@donhawkins @noahebalon Because some people on here like to argue about every little thing, point in case.
@Gargron @noahebalon Really, shocking with such agreeable a-holes as yourself about.

no. by this logic i should go post porn in c/catloaf. there are specific communities for specific purposes, if you’re posting in the wrong community you’re liable to get your shit removed with prejudice. mods have a ‘block’ button, too.

Student projects such as note-taking apps and PDF viewers
Are PDF viewers a common student project? I always assumed the file standard must be a labyrinthine mess given all the features they’ve crammed into it over the years. Or is there some popular library that takes 99% of the work out of it?
@workingdraft Hey! Die Website zeigt keinen Player mit der Folge und Pocket Casts auch nicht.
@MoritzGlantz das ist ein übles Gerücht, das wir weit von uns weisen!
@noahebalon @Gargron Why would anyone be mean to them, they just did the world a favor?

Niki doesn’t have to be fooled–these are likely just words.
She doesn’t have citizenship, her borther is in jail(?) for something like sexual assault, and I think her husband is a pedo.
Like so many surrounding Trump she is likely just waiting to get something out if the arrangement.
Not to say that she will…

@atanasoff @davidgerard I think over a million people more eloquent than me have written extensively about the issues with AI at this point, and it's all just a web search away.
That being said one of my favorite pieces on it is Codeberg's writeup from when they banned AI-heavy projects:
https://blog.codeberg.org/protecting-our-floss-commons-from-llms.html
And also this one, though that's a bit of a broader discussion about AI usage as a whole:
https://eev.ee/blog/2025/07/03/the-rise-of-whatever/
Finally, I also recently saw a nice collection of links about environmental impacts of AI and the involvement of the firms behind it in genocide, here:

New Maps with data from October 25
Our latest maps with OpenStreetMap data from October 25 are now out. You can press “check for updates” in the app to see them and start downloading them.
Just in time for the 2026 State of the Map Latin America conference that is kicking off tomorrow in Mexico City. If you’re there: Say hi to our contributor Bastian, listen to his talk about CoMaps, and grab some stickers! 🇲🇽
While interrogating some oddness with gnome-text-editor, I discovered that my system has "Kate" installed without me having any memory of installing it. I am now incredibly tickled by the thought of Kate just sorta showing up on your couch, yeah whatevs Kate is just hanging out, after a while you discover nobody remembers inviting her or unlocking the door to let her in. Kate's just like that
@mcc Does she play Wipeout on the drums? Do the squirrels and the birds come to gather round to sing her guitar?

I don’t know a lot about Hasan, does he not believe in Revolution?
He’s a social democrat reformist that doesn’t fearmonger about revolution.
Random #English verb form reminder:

> An amended version of the articles relating to witchcraft and black magic appeared in the 1720 Naval Statute. Curiously, it removed the reference to Satanism as well as the crimes of saying spells over guns and hiring magicians.

Enchanting the guns! Now allowed!
@davidgerard They never proclaimed to be no AI in that sense though. Their campaign was “no integrated AI by default, your documents are yours”.
