hope i can soon start sitting in interviews again as consultant, because hearing the technical guy go "so you have 3y experience with that enterprise software. what's the two types of installations there are? (cloud, on-prem)" and the candidate getting lost are my favorite.

So if we don’t attempt to change now, then when? How long do we continue to let perfect be the enemy of good?
When the opposition is not an actual lunatic. There has not been a more damaging president in any way, we can’t even know the death count of the gutting of research and USAID, and those impacts will be felt for decades. He showed Iran that they have control over most of the world’s economy, and now we’re strengthening one of our biggest adversaries in Russia. We’ve ruined relations with EVERY country. Not to say anyone would have predicted it would be THIS bad, but the warning signs were there in what he was promising to do. Protest vote Romney vs Obama, that would suck but at least not destroy the entire world like Trump.
@prutser@mastodon.bsd.cafe They seem to just have similar UIs. Kallisti looks like it's a frontend for Mumble, whereas Harmony is a full-fledged client and server setup with ActivityPub federation. Harmony also features a microblogging component.

Nevermind that even, his solution is literally just protest vote and let the republicans take over. It’s literally surrender with no fight back whatsoever, just smugness at maintaining their principles or some horseshit.

Nope. We have seen time and time again that websites can not keep things like passwords safe and secured. What makes you think any of them can keep actual proper identifiable information safe and secure?

The dem establishment is fully willing to throw the election if someone to the left of Biden wins the Primary. And they will rig it as hard as possible to ensure that their candidate gets in. They have no obligation to respect the vote, they can lawfully choose the candidate however they wish.
You shouldn't harbor such profound awe regarding political violence, nor should you end up stabbing the #resistance in the back; meanwhile, your cowardice allows for the continued shooting of #children by Israel, as well as the attacking, dispossessing, torturing, abducting of civilians!
So, instead of zealously showcasing accomplices at the BBC and The Guardian et al, help instead to circulate content that truly serves the law of humanity, and that includes the women/men who are fighting back
Guy in the vintage store trying to explain what he is looking for to a store employee: "Have you ever seen Torchwood?"
Me: "Oh, you're looking for a Jack Harkness coat."
I hope he finds a Jack Harkness coat and wears it all the time.

Philomena: Some people have been writing PHP for over 20 years. Is that because it's particularly difficult to finish?
Expert: No, software is constantly evolving.
Philomena: So they've been writing the same website for 20 years?
Expert: No, different projects.
Philomena: Have they tried finishing one before starting another?
Expert: That's not how software development works.
Philomena: My mate Paul spent 20 years building a shed. Turned out he was just an alcoholic.
Expert: Right.
Philomena: Is PHP like that?

Surprise surprise you immediately go to outdated classroom rhetoric that completely disregards any context of realpolitik. Your solution is outdated classroom theory that has no practical application. Congratulations, you’re a republican.

This:
Even where there is no prospect of achieving their election the workers must put up their own candidates to preserve their independence, to gauge their own strength and to bring their revolutionary position and party standpoint to public attention. They must not be led astray by the empty phrases of the democrats, who will maintain that the workers’ candidates will split the democratic party and offer the forces of reaction the chance of victory. All such talk means, in the final analysis, that the proletariat is to be swindled. The progress which the proletarian party will make by operating independently in this way is infinitely more important than the disadvantages resulting from the presence of a few reactionaries in the representative body. If the forces of democracy take decisive, terroristic action against the reaction from the very beginning, the reactionary influence in the election will already have been destroyed.

Vote within the system, sure. But make sure you voting for those who represent you, not the lesser evil who keeps you trapped in the system.

@JulianOliver About 16 years ago I got a job offer from Google in London.
I immediately turned them down because I knew how evil they were.
Also London was too far and I want about to relocate, but the main reason was I thought they were an extremely unethical company and you couldn't pay me enough to ever work there.
Fuck Google and Fuck Capitalism.
@pertho Respect.
