My memory isn’t what it used to be.

Or maybe it is and I just don’t remember it always being like this.

shout out to the lemmy developers for not making us be stuck on the other site

shout out to mastodon devs for making us have a better life than on Twitter

shout out to the pixelfed devs for allowing a actual photography platform to exist

shout out to the peertube devs for helping us not be stuck on youtube until the end of time

ETA: Shout out to the server operators who make the stuff be done

LOL. Dude, you are either disingenuous or clueless and I can’t decide which.

Being anti-Zionist isn’t being antisemitic. Facts don’t care about your feelings. Democrats have been just as bad, if not more in favor of Zionism as the republicans have been.

But we are changing the party.

@jalefkowit I must insist you rescind this ghastly insult against Don Knotts.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

China did not begin the genocide of Palestine. It was on going long before Oct 7 and was started by Israel.

@ariadne For anyone who wants more context, here is the extended quote (source: https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-devel/2026-11/msg00128.html).

Also do note that Eli expands that this is not an argument for slavery in a subsequent response!

The New Post button was too prominent for my taste, so I changed that too.

For a while, I was under the impression that all spiciness, or burning sensation in food flavoring, would come from capsaicin, the compound that causes it in chili peppers. Then I realized that Sichuan peppers are a quite different kind of heat. Wasabi (horseradish) is different yet again.

How many hot-flavored compounds are there? At least five!

@littlerao You could consider a code forge like @Codeberg

Codeberg uses @forgejo which has an importer tool on it's website. It's also #NoAI

You can also choose some tags and post a little about your project. We're on a network where we've got varying amounts of spoons.

It's not so much "if you build it they will come", more like state your values and some folks will ask questions.

AI is a technofascist project built on pillaging the commons to facilitate a wealth transfer to the ultra wealthy. it is not "just a tool" unless you're somehow immune to moral injury and prepared to completely disregard the political, ethical, and environmental aspects of the thing

I dunno who Aaron Jorbin is, but the way he talks to folks in the comments of this very frustrating announcement from wordpress makes me certain we would not get along.

https://make.wordpress.org/core/2026/11/05/your-content-is-going-to-get-more-random/#no-fun

"Hey, we made a lot of extra work for you, and it's all for a nebulous benefit that no one really wanted, and we've done it in a way that we can't justify or even really explain, and you can't just turn it off without writing a new plugin to turn it off, and it will make your site slower and potentially expose things that shouldn't be exposed to the public.

Please clap? Otherwise, I'll insult you."

anyway this thread has gone viral, so muting it for my own sanity.

@andrewdoull RQ of course! Everything in that game is in minutes, from magic spell durations (2min and 15min by default), to bleeding rules and more. We typically discussed how long a scene was to see if some effects still applied to the next scene, based on a ballpark estimate of how long, in minutes, the previous scene was. FWIW, GURPS is similar.
Contrast that to Dragonbane, in which we never thought of minutes/hours because we just went with rounds/stretches/shifts as the system intends!

Compare & contrast. Le Monde vs. the NY Times.
