Coyote already checking out the wildlife crossing... now that they finally have it connected with a bit of dirt.

Anyone know about Harmony (ActivityPub chat like Discord)?
Federated social app: Discord-style servers and chat with ActivityPub.
https://github.com/y4my4my4m/harmony
I don’t remember hearing of it till now, yet it claims a lot of desired features. Github page shows only one contributor, one fork, 44 stars; lot of commits in the last week, oldest 3 years ago; GNU Affero General Public Licence v3.0.

@madjohnroberts @r @rakslice This is why I think the Washington initiative is so important: It's a clear overreach and the phobes left themselves exposed
@mcc @madjohnroberts @r @rakslice the fact that that initiative is so hideously creepy that I've been calling initiative Epstein is something we need to lean hard on.
hm. say, you have a connedted undirected graph, and you would like to reason about cycles in it.
here's a nifty tool for that: pick any spanning tree. note down all the edges *not* in the spanning tree. every cycle has to go through *at least* one of those edges, since a (spanning) tree does not contain any cycles as a subgraph. i like to call these "pumps", after the pumping lemmas.
(additional notes: each pump defines a "primitive cycle", by taking the pump edge and connecting the two endpoints via the unique path within the spanning tree. every cycle in the graph corresponds to an edge XOR of a unique set of primitive cycles, though not every edge XOR of primitive cycles gives you a cycles exact condition exercise to the reader)
now some questions to y'all: what is the, uh, literature terminology for this trick? is there some neat way to extend this to digraphs (where the spanning tree becomes a "spanning DAG")?
6 hours until OoT remake. Omfg let’s gooo
@danirabbit I thought it was out already, but do have fun.
This is what I’m referring to
@quephird Why the fuck would anyone in their right mind want to offer Musk an olive branch? He’s no good. He cannot do anything good.
Mmm winds of change
@glennf What happened in Manhattan?
"Axon is facing a class action suit, suggesting people’s problem is less with Flock specifically and more with the AI-powered surveillance state in general"
Flock gets most of the attention, but plenty of other companies are building and profiting from the same tech. Here's a list of who else is in the Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) business, which often includes AI powered facial recognition as well: https://www.surveillancewatch.io/entities?type=license-plate-recognition
@alshafei If absolutely no "AI" were involved, Flock would still be a human rights and privacy nightmare that needs to end.
Rust job opening in 2023-2024: The absolute dream, you will crawl over coals to get this
Rust job opening in 2027-2028: Wait a minute. Is what's happening here that you had Claude rewrite a PHP/Ruby application into Rust in November of 2026, and now you're trying to hire a professional to find out why it doesn't work?
@mcc Yes. but. I'll take it. Refactoring ugly rust into beautiful rust might be worth it.
@glyph @phildini @hynek Five states (Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, and Arizona) gained a Democrat majority in both houses of their legislatures and in their governor's offices, and those five states together have enough electoral votes to push the National Popular Vote effort over the line. https://myemail.constantcontact.com/Voters-in-5-states-create-path-for-fixing-the-Electoral-College-in-2027.html?soid=1116971938310&aid=aRtQZbZ1HSA
In fact any one of Nevada, Arizona, or Wisconsin could fail to pass it and the other four states would still be enough.
Fedi hive mind please help
For my first ~4 years here, all I had to do to read #alttext was hover the word 'ALT' in the image
Sometime in the last month, that stopped working, and nothing I do allows me to see the alt text. I've tried opening the image but... no dice.
I read Mastodon in a browser (safari) on a MacBook Air and all my software is up to date
On of the great joys of Fedi is reading all of the wonderfully decriptive and funny alt text and I'd like it back please.
Help! Thanks
If you enjoy my toots, i invite you to get a look at this link.
Thank you!
When a donated used car broke down at blockade & after a couple of volunteer mechanics came out (they hiked through bushes to get past RCMP blocks) & determined the car wasn't repairable, we used it as a hardblock. Raven & WhaleTail lived out of the car hardblock for a couple days before RCMP & logging guys tore it apart, ripped them both out & arrested them.
When I say we did a lot of frontlines work - this is part of the kind of stuff I'm talking about. It's definitely not for everyone. I tend to roll with fellow grassroots activists who put their lives on the line to try to force government policy changes. We take a lot of silent sabotage actions as well & we aren't sorry about it.
I appreciate anyone who takes other forms of direct actions too. It takes many villagers, so to speak, to topple corrupt leaders & their cohorts.

@davidgerard Can I persuade you to illustrate these with a picture of Elmo before he had so much gender-affirming surgery? Normally that's a faux pas ofc, but given his views on the subject...
Thinking about it, the election *was* bad for Democrats -- the corporate ones. Unfortunately, they are strong enough and craven enough to mostly keep control of the party.
We'll know how things will go when we see if there are genuine, loudly public investigations of all the Trump world corruption.
@dangillmor I think there will be and I very much think we will take to the streets (possibly the virtual ones in a work stoppage) if there aren’t.
Very few of us voted for the status quo. Many of us already knew and more realized that not giving dems real power in office was a mistake. We abdicated our power. No more. We want and deserve what America can be.

@makingarecord this is too cool, entirely too cool. i hope the project was as fun and satisfying as it looks! and great job looking natural and non-chalant for the b-roll, haha
@aparrish lol thanks very much, I tried very hard to pretend they were not there
