There Is No Place In A Functional Society For Elon Musk: Somewhere amid all the Congressional hearings called for by all of this, though, someone simply must find time to break Elon Musk on the fucking wheel. The level of wealth he has attained would make

Let's be clear about one thing: Black voters saved Democracy's ass. If the Democrats don't use their power to assure voting rights and erase the Republicans' racist policies, they will have every right to say, "Next time's on you all."

this is literal misinformation
Haltingly proceeding.
What I discovered last week is that qemu
1. Is not friendly like VirtualBox or Parallels, and depends on understanding many arcane command line args
2. Has GUI frontends which are even *more* unfriendly than the CLI
3. Does NOT work with fractional DPI scaling in GNOME Wayland
After Pain https://mastodon.social/@mcc/117525706771743942 I got Redox working well but blown up and blurry in Linux; and on Windows, got it to run VERY slowly, and it immediately crashed when I opened the web browser.
Now, this was with mis-set -cpu and no -accel, so I think if I'd run VirtualBox instead of Qemu on Windows it would have run great, But then I can't share the QCOW2 image with Linux? I think the way to proceed is to deploy a Redox image to a partition on my big external USB drive, then I can alternately boot the desktop off it directly and boot into it in Qemu in Linux. It appears Redox supports desktop hardware better than laptop RN.
Alternately, maybe I'll spend a week learning to patch Qemu.

@fediverse Writing this from Mastodon as a Test. Hello!
@daccle siehst du denn accounts von anderen servern?
@dec_hl Ja, aber teilweise "leer". Wobei das etwas "flackert". Ich werde es weiter beobachten und dann ggf. der Admin schreiben

stop replacing actual pressable buttons with crappy ‘touch sensitive buttons’ on appliances.
1. they are shit,
2. they don’t work if you have wet/dirty fingers,
3. you have to look to find them as there is no affordance,
4. the markings explaining them wear off leaving an incomprehensible area of actions

Did you review places via Google Maps in the past? @mangroveReviews now offers a way to import your past reviews, which means they will also appear in CoMaps in future maps!
@CoMaps @mangroveReviews i just crested some this morning. But why is there no proper ui for cresting them? I would expect something like that on the mangrove website

shout out to the pixelfed devs for allowing a actual photography platform to exist
shout out to the peertube devs for helping us not be stuck on youtube until the end of time
ETA: Shout out to the server operators who make the stuff be done
@scott @tod ya there is a little irony here. Also, the media reporting on themselves is always a little weird. Thousands of Canadians have been trying to unplug for years, many very successfully, but the CBC only kind of notices when an ex-CBC guy talks about it? I don’t mean to sound mean because I like Todd and I like his style and he has done really good work. It is more of a comment on the editorial policy of the media.
@chris It's even more disingenuous when this is what his company does:
"Since 2007, we've been the secret voice behind dozens of brands. When their customers DM them, or comment on social media, or review them… it's actually our team that replies."
He runs a reply-farm for social engagement. That's the entire business model. If/when you engage with Tod online, is it him, or his reply-farm? Check with a stopwatch, I suppose - " Our median first-reply time is an industry-leading 3 minutes."
