Has the "ambiguous case" ever caused any "real-world" problems?
@futurebird I can imagine it happening with things like decorative boxes made from pre-creased cardboard. Or folding chairs where there’s a diagonal brace that can be pinned at different positions depending on how much you want the back to recline. The brace will “fit” if you swing it the wrong way but may not work quite right.
I look at what's happening in the tech culture and have to wonder - what if the cryptofascism was built into the academia's unwitting worship of imaginary military culture in the first place? And silicon valley is merely reflecting the bias leaking out into the real world?
Should we really be surprised that a whole population trained to associate military funding/access with freedom and efficiency somehow ended up having fascist bent in how they see the world?
@Camille_Poulsard (l’inconscient monarchique des Français me fascine, pour rester poli)
@sknob @Camille_Poulsard Ah oui ! tu n’as pas tort.
– Non.

Some reader have aphantasia, so they literally can't see it in theit head 😅
@tomgauld.bsky.social @Aedius I am one such reader! And I will absolutely not use these prompts to generate an “AI” cartoon.
Happy almost 100th birthday to the black blob! I remember seeing ol' blobby, aka the world's longest running science experiment, in the Michie Building a few times when I was at #UniversityofQueensland #UQ back in the distant mists of time while I was studying what at that time was called an English Degree, (who know what it's called now, if anything - probably long since axed). https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-11-08/queensland-pitch-drop-experiment/107337784
@algernon the more I think about this, the more enraged it makes me. They won't even let us have the word Luddite?
@gryphon they can try taking it. They'll never be a luddite, like they're never gonna be hackers or creatives either.

Been thinking about:
https://codeberg.org/vidak/peoples
Which is the little text editor that I want to ship with the first model of the people's permacomputer.
Compose mode has the guts of it done.
I wanted to move onto the edit mode and fill that out a bit, because it would allow debugging of further features live inside the editor.
BASIC may be approached with the concepts of the REPL, I found myself writing little test programs of about 5 or so lines in order to figure out ANSI escape sequences.
The edit mode should be pretty exciting.
The main change I think I will be making is switching from MID$() to INSTR() for the search function.
If it turns out that the original VIC-20 code works better with MID$, I'll go with that.
So far, the code sparks joy. I have been thinking about it a lot, but trying to only approach it when I have inspiration.

Revolutionary #QiuJin was born in #China in 1875 on #ThisDayInHistory. She had #BoundFeet and an #ArrangedMarriage, but fled both, unbound her feet, adopted men's clothing, and studied politics and #feminism. She was executed in 1907 for a rebellion against the #QingDynasty.

Visited the Tokyo Metro Museum today. It was a very good day
@mastodonmigration You haven't seen petitions & "call your senator" campaigns, alongside countless accusations/statements of incompetence and/or corruption? To be clear, I'm not defending them. I am suggesting it may be difficult & take a long time to find *effective* replacements, and divisive internal battles are bad politics. I honestly don't know who'd be better at leading, picking the right battles, passing legislation & fundraising. Chances are it will be someone I've never heard of.
@dcdeejay @mastodonmigration I would love to see Stacy Abrams get shot. I like a lot of the people Mastodon mentioned. What I don’t like are people suggesting candidates that aren’t qualified to do the job. Ideology does not equate to competency.
