tomorrow, 8 November, Aaron Swartz should be tuning 40 years old
some of the skills use the game's normal UI style and some of them are weird transparent hard to read things
I can see why Melvor Idle 2 doesn't have bronze in it and it's because that puts the most micromanage-y part of the skill at the start of the game

How private do you consider your votes in the Threadiverse?
From the technical side anyone can spin up their own Lemmy instance and view all votes, but I'm curious at what the community's perspective on how "private" that is. I think Mbin already shows upvoters? Piefed allows anonymous voting. I also know there are sites which show all voting history, but assuming those are fairly disliked.
My general questions to the community: - Do you expect your votes to be private, or just not shown in the UI? - Would per-voter votes showing up on another aggregator platform bother you, even though your instance already shares them with other servers?
For context I'm the dev doing some two way bridge interop between atproto + Threadiverse, in atproto the votes/likes are generally publicly accessible, you just look at the users repo through something like pdsls.dev, they're readable and archivable by anyone. In my opinion this isn't that big of a problem since it's fairly hard to look at and discern (Ex all my votes: https://pdsls.dev/at://did:plc:lmdkqemqrqnfiix72pyjhfey/social.coves.feed.vote). Ultimately trying to figure out if there's already a mutual understanding that they are public and we can just mirror them or whether they should stay hidden as an aggregate.

@douglasvb LOL, I had the dumb idea as a kit to buy a lot of 12-packs of "original" Coca Cola to save because they were changing the formula.
(all of them eventually corroded out and dumped themselves onto the floor)
@ai6yr 😂 oh no!
@TrentWalton love the new tracks and absolutely love the cover design.
@Luke thank you!!!! - yea going full font library + textures in photoshop and having lots of fun
@mattblaze @gerg What’s that system of only counting the “correct” votes called again?
@LabSpokane @gerg I mean, there are plenty of screwed and less-than-representative up things in US democracy (the Senate and the electoral college for starters), but it’s hard to understand what there is to complain about with the existence of provisional ballots, of all things. They’re an important safeguard against procedural disenfranchisement.
I've been carrying around an idea for a federated code forge for a while. Two things sharpened it recently: Tangled's post on the federated code forge, which builds a forge on the AT Protocol, and a Jujutsu workshop (Korean) by Seongmin Lee (@boltless.me), who works at Tangled, held at @turingappledev.
My version would build on ForgeFed, the #ActivityPub protocol for code forges (spec), so that repositories, issues and merge requests federate the way posts already do. The idea is early enough that I haven't even come up with a codename. What I want from it, roughly:
jj) as equal clients. Not Git hosting with Jujutsu support bolted on, but a forge that understands both, so what Jujutsu is actually good at, stacked changes, becomes a first-class unit of review instead of a pile of separate pull requests.forge.example/myrepo instead of forge.example/owner/myrepo.Where this stands: I haven't read the whole #ForgeFed spec, Fedify doesn't ship the vocabulary yet (fedify-dev/fedify#751), and I have too much else going on to start soon. If you've run a forge or implemented ForgeFed, I'd like to hear whether any of this makes sense.
"Could a person with ADHD do THIS?" I declaim, throwing out the slice of bread that has been sitting in the bag on the counter for over five weeks
I’m trying to figure out which is better (or worse I guess) if it’s the wrong Dana White or the right Dana White.

I don't think so @darth_hideout

This seem to stem from a misunderstanding. Lemmy and Mastodon have different goals. Users of each generally don’t want the other’s content generally showing up en masse.
If you want to see something from Mastodon, you can usually get it on Lemmy, and vice versa. I don’t often see Mastodon posts either, but that’s because I only follow Lemmy communities, so I only see them when someone on Mastodon tags a Lemmy community in their post. If you want to see more Mastodon content, see if you can follow some users or hashtags from Lemmy.
But that might not be supported; I haven’t tried. If you prefer Mastodon, I’m pretty sure that you can follow Lemmy communities from there.
NAHHHH HEON HAVE to SAY ALL DAT!!!!!
You can hook into python's import machinery to do novelties like this
import markmodule
markmodule.import_md("hello_module.md")
import hello_module
print(hello_module.hello())
@mistersql Looks like lots of folks have played in this area!

on the plus side the brake parts look a lot better now
@contrasocial Agree that people have been conditioned to accept losing. We need to turn this mindset around. Rejecting a 'leader' with a 13% favorability sould be a no brainer. Let's stop losing.
I'm saying now it's not so much a mentality of losing by the voters, I'm saying the voters did what they could with a single election but we now have what we have for these next two years. And if they don't deliver it will end in a bigger disaster than Trump.
I'm not saying to stop trying, just pointing out centrism has put us behind, and it will continue to put us behind until we eject it entirely from the party. You cannot find a halfway point between fascism and progress
Ayanna Pressley would be a great Speaker of the House.
We can’t have a speaker who’s taken $150,000 from Peter Thiel’s Anduril, tens of thousands from executives of Palantir, hundreds of thousands from AIPAC, and secret meeetings with Jared Kushner.
You would have supported Clarence Thomas for the Supreme Court, with that kind of thinking.
