Is it low latency, durable for gaming?
no, unless you have very low standards for “suitable for gaming”
@hacks4pancakes Held up ballot ...and they still lost... @atcdev
It should count unless your state changed the date of receipt if post marked... some have. If it does count, it will change the margin of victory!
Space Kaleidoscope
A short (half hour or so) time lapse of Taurus and Orion rising over Lake Tyrrell.
The lights on the horizon are mostly combine harvesters making short work of the winter wheat harvest.
Next time, I need to bring a chair, a book and snacks.
I would like to wander a good-old-fashioned randomly-generated immersive virtual world, the kind that only need one or maybe two 32-bit processors...
I think this coder may have been trying to do manual memory management in python
they do, like:
def get_url(url):
response = request.get(url)
document = json.loads(response)
response=None # <-- this line
return document
like, that almost makes sense in C, right? they're freeing the HTTP response. but this is python, we have a reference-counting garbage collector
@foone helping the garbage collector, because everyone needs a friend.
You can find the original track on a collection I have on my bandcamp called Old Favorites.
But yeah.
Check out the new single.
I love you.
I realized today that all the good news didn't make me less tired.
Literally years of dealing with a flood of negative crazy hateful stuff coming at us at breakneck speed every single day takes a toll.
The new reasons for hope are great but it's going to take a minute to adjust.
Summer says that she understands.
I thank her because being close to her brings my blood pressure down and my hopes up. Her limitless capacity for joy and love helps everything that ails me.
She gives me the "awe shucks" I'm so embarrassed look but I mean every word.
We watch the sun disappear together.

Hi from normals.me. If you can read this, the federation works
This post is written on https://normals.me and delivered to !fediverse@lemmy.world over #ActivityPub, so if you are reading it the basic plumbing works. Now let me explain what is this.
Normals is a forum with communities, threads, and questions with an accepted answer. It is a single instance, not software you can host, and the core is closed for anti-abuse reasons. The federation module will be published separately with implementation notes (FEP-67ff).
What federates today Every community is a Group actor following the Lemmy model (FEP-1b12). Follow @selfhosted@normals.me or any other community from Lemmy, PieFed, Mbin or Mastodon.
Posts and comments go both ways. Replies from your instance appear in the thread on Normals, replies from Normals go back to the origin.
Remote content is labelled with its origin, links back to it, and is never copied. Media loads from the source.
Signed fetches, so it works with instances that require authorized fetch. NodeInfo 2.1 is up.
Policies, in case they matter to you, it has no ads, and no paid reach, and of course no AI training on posts. AI crawlers blocked by default, public mod log with reasons, and no automated removals. Numbers at https://normals.me/transparency so please take a look.
If something from your instance shows up wrong here, or something from here shows up wrong on yours, reply with the URL and I'll fix it. Andy Piper mentioned NodeBB uses the same group model, if anyone runs a NodeBB instance I'd like to test against it, if possible.
I hope we all have fun. Cheers!
So you get an idea, the original song in Spanish sounds like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kea_meSTHM
Staple song of the 1970s and 1980s exiled community. Kind of ironic, considering what happened in Chile on 11 September 1973.

The audacity of AI CEOs, going on TV to say the technology they are building may or may not destroy humanity but definitely would make you unemployed in five years, will be studied for decades.
@carnage4life I can’t imagine why people didn’t vote in favor of all that on Tuesday.
PS2 startup sound: bouba. Gamecube startup sound: kiki.
This Friday the 6th is #alternateFridayMusic and the cue is: #protest
"El pueblo unido jamás será vencido" (The people united will never be defeated!) was composed by Quilapayún in June 1973, during the Chilean Socialist government of Salvador Allende.
Frederic Rzewski, US composer and pianist, composed 36 variations of the song for piano.

@blogdiva No, really: thank you.
Australians who have hybrid office/WFH arrangements: How do you do telephony? Work-issued mobile? Work-issued computer with soft phone app? BYOD with a work app? BYOD with your personal number? Don’t do voice telephony? Boosts OK.
@futzle BYOD with my personal number

It's still #alternateFridayMusic 🎉

One of my favourites:
Parquet Courts - Total Football
This track manages to cover an awful lot of ground with few words:
🎶 We are troubled by your soft curiosity
But delighted to be anti-everything you were taught
Are you put off by our footloose fluidity?
Have your hurt caucasian feelings left you so distraught?
Only through those who stay awake can an institution be dismantled
It is dishonest, nay, a sin to stand for any anthem that attempts to drown out the roar of oppression
Swapping parts and roles is not acting, but rather emancipation from expectation
Collectivism and autonomy are not mutually exclusive
Those who find discomfort in your goals of liberation will be issued no apology
And fuck Tom Brady! 🎶
