"El pueblo unido jamás será vencido" (The people united will never be defeated!) was composed by Quilapayún in June 1973, during the Chilean Socialist government of Salvador Allende.
Frederic Rzewski, US composer and pianist, composed 36 variations of the song for piano.

Staple song of the 1970s and 1980s exiled community. Kind of ironic, considering what happened in Chile on 11 September 1973.
