@raymierussell Thanks for the information. I'm completely unfamiliar with even the most elementary principles of election security, because I've only been thinking about this full time for a bit more than a quarter century now.
Do you know how US elections work? Are you aware, for example, that the vast majority of US voters use hand marked paper ballots?
But thanks for the advice. We'll get right on it.
I find that most folks in the Anglosphere outside the US have no idea that some US ballots are two full pages. Multiple offices over multiple jurisdictions as well as ballot initiatives or, in Oklahoma's case, “judicial retention” elections.

One thing I've taken away from some of these things is that a lot of communities say "well we can't ban genAI contributions, because you never really know", and maybe you won't for some, though you might for a lot, but for sure some will slip through
But also what we are seeing is that vibecoders / slop artists will absolutely take their ball and leave in a huff if you say it isn't welcome here
Sometimes they'll even start a completely separate thing for them
And great! Go do it.
But yeah, placing rules of such things do work. And it does help preserve communities.

BLIND MELON
Blind Melon
2014 Europe reissue
Back in 1992, my older sister took me to Brandeis University to see the 120 Minutes Tour; a travelling rock circus featuring four bands:
Public Image Ltd., Big Audio Dynamite, Live, and Blind Melon.
The only band that left any impression on me that night was Blind Melon.
I absolutely fell in love with them.
They were such a phenomenal band, and on THAT night, they blew everybody else off the stage. Which is a hard thing to do when you’re sharing a stage with punk legends like John Lydon and Mick Jones.
I was fully obsessed with and immersed in this album for two whole years after seeing that concert, which was my second concert ever.
I hold the memory of that night very near and dear, and every time I think of Shannon, I’m right back there in my head.
Another incredible talent gone too soon.

I'm surprised even on Mastodon almost all searchable discussions of ADHD meds are negative posts, addiction-related, comparisons to meth, etc.
It's a shame people in general seem reluctant to talk about medications that help them. Anyways, I was only searching hashtags because I feel like it's a scam adderall gets prescribed more commonly than dexedrine and wanted to see if anyone else agreed 😂
@jonah Ritalin(or Methylphenidate) really helps me a lot though.

New, by me: Tech Firms Dismantle Botnet That Turned 1.3M TV Boxes Into Proxies
Google said today it worked with industry partners to dismantle a botnet made up of more than 1.3 million Android TV set-top boxes that ship with malicious software which secretly rents the user’s Internet connection out to strangers and conducts advertising fraud. Experts involved in the takedown say the action is likely to sever the botnet’s access to more than 10 million additional compromised systems, including other Internet of Things (IoT) products such as Android-based healthcare devices and karaoke machines.
@briankrebs Sounds familiar. Wasn't there a botnet doing similar things a couple of years back using something called "badboxes" or something of that sort, aka. malware infected movie piracy devices and TV sticks?
In my case, it was when I was at dinner with a couple, and when we got into the car she said, “That girl was really into you.” She was? Oh. (This was BK: Before Kit.)
Oof, I laughed a little too hard
@stux Not sure if even the Ghosts of Christmas could save him at this point.

Glad to see this reporting from the BBC: when the AI bubble bursts, companies that have gone bust will sell your data. https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20261029-the-ai-bubble-could-expose-your-deepest-secrets
This shit cost 2 trillion dollars btw.
Why is the new Mastodon web interface obsessed with showing me a blank column on the right? My four column layout is now a six column layout that doesn't fit in the window and also two of them are blank! This is horrible.
@jwz Yuck! So glad it doesn't look like that for me.
