Look, you can give me a mission where I have to shoot down a thousand trash planes, or you can give me a mission where I have to shoot down one unkillable super ace. BUT YOU CAN’T PUT BOTH IN THE SAME MISSION
UPDATE: Turns out this mission is just a dumb puzzle. Do it with a plane that can carry the SASM special armament and it becomes drop dead simple

In July, Goldman Sachs was praising bankers and traders for using AI to build their own software.
Now it’s restricting Claude Code and other AI coding tools to engineers, after reviewing productivity and risk concerns.
Turns out making everyone a vibe coder creates some new problems.

@danyow it did for a little while in between when I accidentally simulated n^2 samples instead of just n
@aesthr oops. 😬

@RnDanger @ai6yr Epoxy is not UV resistant... it yellows terribly with UV. Just look at any old surfboard - those are either Epoxy or Polyurethane exterior.... both yellow like a smoker's front teeth when exposed to too much sun.
But for outdoor stuff, epoxy is probably still better than any of the urethane-based single-part finishes. At least it fully cures into a solid sheet of plastic, assuming you put it on thick enough.
If you *really* wanted to go nuts, you could wrap it in fiberglass to help capture the epoxy. However, that requires you find 1. epoxy for free, 2. fiberglass for free, and 3. still manage to dry out all the wet wood pulp currently inside your table.
Or, you know, just let it go to sh*t and build one out of old pallet wood or something for your next project.

Piefed web interface does stack comments if cross posted, so I’m guessing the poster isn’t bothering to cross post if it isn’t showing that way in Intersellar.
Statistics simulation performance tip:
If you need n samples, don't accidentally generate n^2.
You're welcome.

Well, this is a new one for me. A few seconds on an induction cooktop turned up, then two loud cracks and this.

Autistic different ways of processing information can lead to unusual perception: seeing patterns, details, connections, and possibilities that may not be obvious from the mainstream view.

@llewelly @ai6yr @intrepidhero cancels next meeting of Ventura Nudists at Bens house ...
@marcotietz @llewelly @intrepidhero I recall reading about nudists having to around towels (as a courtesy) for wherever they are sitting. Maybe I am just making this up, lol. Kinda like spandex cyclists have whatever that chamois thing is for their pants. No one wants your rear end/nether parts on their chair.
I think the main disadvantage of having been socialized by Star Trek is that I still assume everyone is an intelligent being and listens to reason.
@scy I suppose that I haven't committed suicide yet because I was asocialised by The Planet Of The Apes.

You’re not alone in this wish, though I’m sure that doesn’t surprise you. I sort of accepted it as just part of how a federated reddit-style forum would work, but if there’s a way to address it, that would be very cool.
My Treasure Coast, Fl county is underwater already, and the rain isn’t expected stop until midnight tomorrow. By that time, my bedroom will be a seaport. How are these storms going to affect turnout? We have the worst luck in this country.
No matter the outcome of tomorrow's elections, Wednesday will likely be "the election was rigged by hackers!" day for many disgruntled supporters of losing candidates.
Remember, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Think before you boost, especially when the message tells you what you want to hear.
@mattblaze Thank you, Matt, for being a voice of reason. I have been exposed to news stories that made some pretty big claims about elections, and I think I genuinely may have been swayed by some of them if I hadn't had your consistent reminders that, no, the US election system is actually quite robust, and subverting it in the manner described by those claiming fraud would take a substantial effort that would be impossible to conceal.
So, y'know. Thanks for keeping this one internet rand sane.
With a major US election coming up it’s worth clarifying a position on it. I think the US version of “democracy” is wildly insufficient, and hardly worthy of the label. But it would be stupid to give up what little choice we do have, and there are more progressives on ballots than ever before. So go vote. And then organize, because even the most progressive candidates will shift right as electeds.
