Reading "Surface Detail" for a second time and muttering "there is no way Elon Musk read and liked this" every now and then.
It is well known that Elon Musk does not often read for himself.
Nor does he often watch movies. Nor does he often play his own video games.
And when he does, he does not understand them.

That’s not new. They’ve had it for a long time now.
@shawnhooper Makes sense. I think DD and similar are going to have to find ways to address this themselves before too long. It’s definitely not an uncommon problems.
Please be sure you don’t take your eye off the big node.js/brotli vulnerability while php2shell was sucking all the air from the room. https://www.aikido.dev/blog/python-packages-vulnerable-node2shell-brotli-cve-2026-111497
This is why American handball is so awful to watch. A typical game lasts 3 hours including the pre/post match discussion. Along with millions of ads breaks and stoppages to swap offence and defense - the actual play time for an American handball match is just 11 minutes and in that time it is kicked about half a dozen times.
When you need to multiply 7*8 do you simply have it memorized, or do you need to add, subtract or otherwise connect it to another math fact that you know better?
That is do you simply think "56" or are there more thoughts that lead to 56?
@futurebird I don't instantly know what 7*8 is, but I do know what 8*7 is.
Hey, @EUCommission, fuck you too.

On Wednesday, EU Member States approved a change to the GDPR that would put the profit-making interests of OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta and SpaceX over European's fundamental right to data protection. According to the approved text, processing personal data “in the context of AI” should automatically be lawful. In particular, Big Tech would be able to use all personal data collected over the past decades with virtually no restrictions, as long as this happens “in the context” of AI. Schrems: “Under the agreed text, the profits of AI companies would typically trump European’s fundamental right to privacy. This is nothing but a digital expropriation of Europeans.”

My duo was supposed to arrive on December 1st.
At 7:18 this morning I get a call from Vincent “they have duos! Black or white?”.
We unboxed together.
@Migueldeicaza That’s great news!! Congratulations! With La Terminal on the Duo, you can carry around a “decently full-screen” Linux terminal in your pocket 🙂
The most important thing today is that Starlink and Starshield operations have been restored to the speeds we had before the restrictions. The speeds are now where they need to be. The restoration began overnight, and by this morning, speeds were already sufficient. This matters: for our frontline logistics, for defending Ukraine against jet-powered “shaheds.”
I thank all Americans and all our partners who took this seriously and truly helped – members of Congress, senators, all the media, the State Department, and the President. Protecting lives matters.
@lrz he said “both of you now need to try Clair Obscure Expedition 33”
@Migueldeicaza this one is a total banger I heard!

> Artcraft took screen shots and a list of functions and got Claude to generate code based on those. The functions exist in the app, but a lot of them don’t work. You end up with something that looks like Photoshop, and it works a bit, until you try anything beyond what Microsoft Paint does. Or maybe curves. Or editing a 10,000 by…
clever people who know about where to buy interesting things, or who make stuff; I'm looking to buy (or if I have to, make) a sort of fidget toy of auxetic cubes. Here's a video showing some examples from a @stevemould thing.
(Note: I have emailed the person who made some of these but didn't get a response, so I've tried that one)
note to myself: https://than.gs/m/977243 is good, with tiles that snap onto the top of printable auxetic cubes, so... that might work

So, likely confirming many sceptics' view of the Online Safety Act, Ofcom has concluded that in its first nine months it has had no discernible positive impact on the flow of inappropriate & dangerous material reaching children via social media.
As many argued at the time (and as I became convinced of after discussions in my timeline) this was the wrong way to address what remains a serious social problem.
We need a much bigger stick to deal with BigTech!
