@Myotis_cuniculus Eventually... but not for a bit. But, could be sampling error, the people I am running into looked me up due to my finding a few people... clearly looking beyond the local search and rescue teams for answers.
@Myotis_cuniculus I probably would stick myself as being called about the same time people are looking for mediums and psychic readers 🤪
For a while, I was under the impression that all spiciness, or burning sensation in food flavoring, would come from capsaicin, the compound that causes it in chili peppers. Then I realized that Sichuan peppers are a quite different kind of heat. Wasabi (horseradish) is different yet again.
How many hot-flavored compounds are there? At least five!

Sometimes I make a post just to see how much punctuation I can cram in there.
@the_etrain Some days I create a post with zero spelling or grammar mistakes on the first try. It's on those days that I buy lottery tickets.

I'm sorry - after writing stern letters and hiring lots of lawyers, this is the Carney government’s big move to save Stelco workers?
When was the last time the Competition Bureau brought the hammer down on a big corporation? Anyone?
Workers are under attack *right now*.
Nationalize Stelco, yesterday.
Just put the Buddy Rich disk on... first track is "Birdland". Dunno what "Direct to Disc" means, but most certainly the pressing on these is extremely high quality. (less tracks per side, which seems to be wider spaced tracks... so you don't get any bleed between tracks, whre you can hear other tracks faintly, like on the KTELs 🤪 ) #LPs #music
@ai6yr
hehehe
direct to disk means:
after rehearsal:practice,
everyone tuned up? yeah? good?
they don't hit record, no edits, no overdubs,
the lathe spins, the artists perform, the mix is the mix.
end of one performance, the lathe engineer rolls the break, and the next performance is cut, etc, until the 15 or so minutes is up.
then take a break,
then cut the b-side lacquer.
same.
it's intense stuff.
@ai6yr Ive found that family and friends usually they want a body found because it gives closure. But we work a lot of HRD cases. Live find need has decreased in my region as cell coverage has increased.

@ben I genuinely had no idea that the genre had jokes to be understood because the only ones I've ever seen just had ultra fast loud sounds and the only understandable words being meme words like pingas and the knuckles memes that I'm still not sure if they are racist or not I'll be real so I am not surprised I'm unaware of the depth of the genre but I also can't assure you I wouldn't have ever figured it out without your information added here.

And lo! the prophecy has come to pass ...
@nullagent I'm from MS. Even though I'm in TX now, my home state has me even more excited.
The county where I grew up went blue by a lot. And the history of racism there runs deeeeep. I'm kinda stunned

Me personally I would say that private votes are better if possible. But you should be able to filter when you’re logged in what you upvoted and downvoted. That’s how I would like it ideally.
Happy 4 years to everyone that arrived in the Great Wave of '22 and are actually still here. You're the real heroes.
@the_etrain In typical fashion I joined the fediverse the hardest way possible, by starting an instance.
One of the best decisions I ever made. It's been a fun four years.

I don’t expect my votes to be private, but I will vote as if they were. People reading too much into why someone might have voted a certain way and trying to shame them for it is embarrassing, I’m not going to constrain myself to reasons for voting that are immediately legible to anyone via only one bit of information just for their sake. If I want to downvote something with, for instance, a political message I agree with but the person phrased it in a way that goes against my pet peeves, I’m gonna do that, and I think the ideal would be for these numbers not to be taken very personally or seriously.
So basically I’d say it’s bad taste to put it in a UI, but only so far as it encourages people to be weird about it, and ultimately that’s on them.
Sorry, the app encountered an unexpected error
