will journalists ever figure out they can cite someone's hateful speech without reproducing it in a harmful form
You... you announced an offer ? I thought Trump's post just meant that it had been offered and ACCEPTED. Who the hell posts this publicly before getting a yes ? XD

Choir practice?
Show me your dinner is all gone before I let you have any dessert.
or
Did you brush up and down, all the way to the back teef?
@ai6yr America 250 is the controlled-by-Congress mostly-nonpartisan one, Freedom 250 is the Trump one
Thanks for sharing it! 😆
A particularly nice discovery this week was finding a brush for Walnut that a) she tolerates, and b) actually works.
So yay, she can be brushed now!
(Photo of Walnut for reference.)
@troublewithwords @mothninja That belly is touchable! No harm will come to you (other than maybe minor blood loss). 😁
Blog post: Where are we going? https://bigzaphod.com/blog/where-are-we-going/
I should blog more often probably.
Although maybe after reading this, perhaps I shouldn't blog more.
Hmm.
My very first traditional ceramic piece! Glazed it (not pictured) today and it will soon go to its second firing.
@anna scared cat and relaxed cat?
The side everyone sees is how you feel?
Looking for some weekend reading? We've got you covered! Our new mag, Desire Lines: Encoding Queer Digital Futures, is out! Read seven stories that imagine digital futures rooted in queer creativity, resistance, and possibility. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2026/11/presenting-desire-lines-encoding-queer-digital-futures
@eff Reminder that in their rules for submissions to this, the EFF allowed GenAI usage. The zine is probably infected with LLM-made slop. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2026/06/call-submissions-digital-pride
I just say "duck"
@FranceskaMann What do you use for the past tense?
"I Ducked this" ??
Actually, a poll, out of curiosity. Who here has heard of the band Shearer independently of me talking about them? No, not the kiwi guys, that's Shihad.
It's wild just how shitty Windows 11 runs. I'm getting fucking consistent dropped frames on YouTube when in fullscreen, while Linux on the same hardware has zero issues.
You should really not be using Windows. It's 2026 and it can't even play a video without hammering itself on the dick.
I WATCHED VIDEO PORN ON MY PC IN LIKE 2002 WITHOUT DROPPED FRAMES FFS
everyone loves a collar
Many years ago, I think when I was pre-first-job broke (hey, the more things change, huh?) I used to find CC-licensed music on Jamendo that I could legally and ethically download for free. Not all of it was good, a lot of it wasn't. And some of it, I didn't immediately like, but warmed up to. In the case of Shearer, a German band, I almost entirely bounced off the album I downloaded, but I did share it with a friend I thought would enjoy it. He got into them, and now I mostly associate the album Duck on Cover with him, and came around to liking the album myself.
I know his favorite song is Warmachine, and we've talked about why. His childhood had some issues too. But for me, the song that I've been singing on and off today is I'll Be Right Behind You Josephine. They say that singing softens accents, but I feel like I need to put some German into it to do these songs justice when I sing them!

@MaddieM4 I spent a bunch of money on Jamendo when I couldn't really afford it.
Drevo, Picari, and so many more.
Nowadays I spend even more money on bandcamp.
@ColinTheMathmo I’ve done free stuff if I think I’ll enjoy the experience. When it stops being fun, I decline doing them for free.
I’ve also found a good answer to “our company policy is X” is “well my company policy is Y”. People who get off on following policy seem more likely to accept that as an answer than a more logical justification!
@richardloxley A starting point here is that it won't be for free ... their offer, if I accept, will cost me money.
I'll be travelling further than their travel allowance will cover, and I'll need to spend a night away. And probably two lunches.
Plus a minimum of 24 hours away from home, probably closer to 40 hours.
I'll be pointing all this out to them, and then say that unless they can cover all that, I'm deeply honoured to have been considered but must decline the opportunity.
I found this photo in an eBay listing for a batch of used pinball-machine balls in July of 2000.
I didn't bid, but I messaged the seller letting them know they absolutely made my day with this photo and they replied with gratitude. I even set it as the desktop image on a computer I used in the arcade workshop I worked in at the time.
It's been sitting on my hard drives for 26 years, and I no longer wish to keep it to myself.
Thanks for sharing it! 😆
