@ascentale @bikenite I liked this tree. I thought it was pretty dramatic ^_^

Every single person in this picture - including the guy who posted it - lost.
@Lana ...and they were such a diverse group, too.

Ursula K. Le Guin, in 2014:
Books aren’t just commodities; the profit motive is often in conflict with the aims of art. We live in capitalism, its power seems inescapable — but then, so did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art. Very often in our art, the art of words.

a permutation of a set also assigns an order to every element of the set. given that each numeric is chosen and rotated independently, i would consider it unordered https://beige.party/@ned/117566348282752754

Started diagramming Jason Shiga’s _Samurai vs Ninja_, his third AdventureGame Comics book. Much to do, but it will be a Steam release when I am done, and then make its way to iOS later.
Walk Tua the polls (pretend I posted this several days ago)
@aiuto in MS, which has strict voter ID requirements, many of the provisional ballots are people who need to come back with acceptable ID.
@mattblaze Ah.. that's an important difference. I spent a lot of Tuesday tellig people to put their ID away because we don't require it in NY state.
"CPU model 'host' requires KVM or HVF"
…
This is not the most useful error message I have ever seen
Okay so it appears KVM is the standard VM management layer on Linux, and HVF is the standard VM management layer on MacOS.
This makes the error message seem the more curious, because I got the error on Windows. Is what the error message really saying "You cannot use -cpu host on Windows"?
But where do I park my submarine..
To think, this is a thing that's been made up now. 😂🤣😂

How private do you consider your votes in the Threadiverse?
From the technical side anyone can spin up their own Lemmy instance and view all votes, but I'm curious at what the community's perspective on how "private" that is. I think Mbin already shows upvoters? Piefed allows anonymous voting. I also know there are sites which show all voting history, but assuming those are fairly disliked.
My general questions to the community: - Do you expect your votes to be private, or just not shown in the UI? - Would per-voter votes showing up on another aggregator platform bother you, even though your instance already shares them with other servers?
For context I'm the dev doing some two way bridge interop between atproto + Threadiverse, in atproto the votes/likes are generally publicly accessible, you just look at the users repo through something like pdsls.dev, they're readable and archivable by anyone. In my opinion this isn't that big of a problem since it's fairly hard to look at and discern (Ex all my votes: https://pdsls.dev/at://did:plc:lmdkqemqrqnfiix72pyjhfey/social.coves.feed.vote). Ultimately trying to figure out if there's already a mutual understanding that they are public and we can just mirror them or whether they should stay hidden as an aggregate.

They’re not private at all, I’ve never been under the illusion that they were.
I like it, have some guts, stand on business. If people want to downvote they should be willing to attach their name to it, internet points are fake anyway.

Data has to federate, so nothing is going to really be private like you mention. I think it’s unreasonable to expect anything otherwise. I don’t see a point to hiding votes because of this. If someone starts stalking or harassing their voters for some reason, have a reporting system and handle that.
@joe Vim looks like a vi, but is actually an emacs. This also applies to the vis editor.
Neovim is an emacs that feels like a vi.

Whoa!
Doesn't mean anything will happen, but imagine how much ketchup is hitting the wall over this.
