Just for kicks I tried using my "minimal C code to read IR codes" on the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W. It works fine using the generic GPIOD library (which isn't very fast). A simple implementation which polls the GPIO pin continuously (with usleep() to reduce CPU utilization) worked on the first try. I guess we don't need LIRC either 😜

They should do what a lot of homes on the NC coast do: put the house high up on stilts, with only the carport or maybe a small guest-room at ground-level.
Of course, that won't do much if there's heavy debris in a storm, but it does give you a lot more margin when the flooding is gentle.
(I'm also imagining coastal towns of the future with elevated roadways and gondola-lift transit...)
@woozle @EugestShirley @Dougfir Soon Southern California will look like those North Carolina islands, lol... 20 feet up on piers.

But earlier this year Violet was kind enough to record the theme song for our new cartoon Kumiai-Ki The Mighty Labor Union Mech.
https://hurlyburlyandthevolcanicfallout.bandcamp.com/album/kumiai-ki-the-mighty-labor-union-mech
There are three versions of the track up at that link, a clean(ish) version, a super distorted version, and an instrumental version of the super distorted version.
And, at least as far as I'm concerned, it is now the must Hurly Burly thing to ever exist.
@cluelesstoshika @David Certainly true that some of the quakes up along the coast are in fact still aftershocks from 2011. Quakes of that size have a long tail.
@ai6yr Very cool!
@michaelgemar Thanks!

Anyway, you can get GIANT ROBOT JETPACK as a digital download or a Cassette or as half of a split LP.
It's a very goofy album, and it makes me feel like I'm 12 years old and nothing bad can happen.

Of course, @DoctorDeathray never stopped making music. She's got several albums and half a dozen EPs on her bandcamp.

Violet and Sundog are playing a gig in Athens GA tomorrow, if you might be in the area, you should check it out.

Cybertruck production to end https://www.wired.com/story/rip-cybertruck-you-were-unloved-unwanted-and-utterly-absurd/
And because people just love to keep giving this guy money to make new bad ideas, the production is ending to make way for... the Cybercab, an even worse designed thing

I'd start with giving them some kind of future to look forward to -- and maybe we can start back into that work now? Maybe? Here's hoping.
Here's how this will all pan out. I have foreseen all [insert spooky noise left over from Halloween] ...
The machines will need us to handle the exceptions. Until the sun burns down to a cinder, they will always need us. They're good at rules, we're so far out in front on exception handling ...
There will be a future for our kids. Educated kids, especially educated girls.
