I blog about the Mississippi Senate race and the surprising lack of a recount provision in its election law. In fact, this represents a rather unique opportunity.

@ai6yr @msbellows @cpsc_bot Just imagine. You're in Mexico city, using your brand new ice axe for totally normal reasons, and then blam! Trostky is alive. What a mess.

No #UNSC condemnation after the criminal attack on #iran - there's no international #law anymore!
For most of history, parents buried about half their children before fifteen.
Now 96 in 100 make it.
A child born in 1800 could expect fewer than 30 years. One born in 2024 can expect 73.
18 chapters, 26 centuries. The case for the species.
@Daojoan maybe things were more balanced before we became a cancer on the planet.
Anthropocentrism needs to be questioned at its heart: yes, we created more humans living longer lives and less babies dying, but we are rapidly destroying the ecological substrate that makes life possible at all.
Is this all actually a good thing?
... really?

@ai6yr @msbellows @cpsc_bot someone got a big fat bonus for reducing material cost
So, what about filibusters? Vetoes? I think those come down to norms. It used to be relatively rare that Senators would filibuster a bill. Now, we just take it as a given that any Senate legislation will be opposed by the other party. We need to get over that, and start calling senators on their bullshit. If a bill is popular, has a high number of votes, they need to defend why they are obstructing it.
@evan Return the US Senate to real filibusters. If they feel so strongly about a bill, let the senator talk until he or she collapses.

This ain’t nothing but a game to these people…
And we’re the pawns…
Similarly with vetoes. Donald Trump is a lame-duck president whose party was body slammed in the last election. Who the fuck is he to automatically veto popular legislation? He needs to be shamed for doing it. I think, as a person, he will give in.
Power in the US federal government, like in most formal systems, belong to those who take it. The democratically elected representatives in the Congress have a better claim to that power than anyone else today. They need to come in to their jobs expecting to use it. That's why we sent them there.

A la venta, la semana que viene. La secuela de «Los monstruos también tienen miedo» ha sido dibujada por Pepe Medina y escrita por mí.
Found a whole shop for some ops we know! #hamradio

I must have read this as a kit, because I remember individual elements from it like the Gary Mitchell in the tank of regen gel and Kirk's knee and the mention of the Aerfen, but I don't rem ember the story at all. I might have read it too young, similar to Strangers from the Sky.
I don't have enough domain knowledge to know if this is true but my brain thinks it'd be easier to make an OS than a web browser and that feels like it should not be true.
