Remember, remember.
The fifth of November.
The Gunpowder treason and plot.
I know of no reason, why the Gunpowder treason should ever be forgot!
Perhaps we should re-introduce a Million Mask March against the becoming surveillance globe..

USB-C sucks. The connectors are always flaky and unreliable. My earbuds, my phone, whatever: if I nudge it or the phase of the moon changes, the connection fails and the device stops charging. I like that we have one format but could we have one that works?
I've been in a relationship with my partner now for nearly 20 years They've recently let me know they really dislike when I use the word "man" at the end of a statement I'm from the Northeast of England, I'm saddened that they hate the way I speak, but I don't know what to do.

@acb @andyhazel.bsky.social there's some stuff on youtube music https://music.youtube.com/channel/UCLSU-DtgalschV9GXdOuJEA
@davidgerard @andyhazel.bsky.social That’s all more recent material, from after their return to Australia. Their first iteration, when they were signed to Infectious/FMR, remains out of print.
DEF CON 2027 Theme Drop!
The theme for next year’s DEF CON is ‘The Age of Experimentation’.
In times of rapid, explosive change it’s important to stay grounded in the basics. When things get too ‘vibey’ there’s no substitute for knowing how things really work, and having the tools to move things forward.
The basics of the theme are available on the website and in a pdf on the media server.
As always, we can’t wait to see where you’ll take the concept. More soon.
Can’t wait to see you all next year!

@defcon so pumped about the theme! Takes me back to when I first learned 6502 Assembler where I was just fumbling around and experimenting blindly as that is where all the joy began! LETS DO THIS!

Europe’s future is built in the classroom.
Every young person deserves a strong start in maths, science and reading. We want them to receive the support they need.
Our new Education and Skills Package aims to help EU countries:
🔸 Boost basic skills
🔸 Make AI and digital tools work for learning
🔸 Support teachers and tackle shortages
🔸 Make vocational training a first choice
Every young person deserves the chance to thrive. Strong education means a stronger Europe.
@EUCommission who the fuck drew the chemical reaction in the lower left?
note how
- the cyclohexane ring magically looses six protons to be come aromatic (where did they go?)
- my first thought at that OOOH group is that someone misspelled COOH; except the OOOH group the somehow reacts to OOH + H2O, while the other OH group just goes missing. in total, we start with 4 oxygens, and end up with 3, violating preservation of mass.
is that really where we want the state of education to be? superficially plausible-looking, but just bafflingly wrong upon the slightest scrutiny?
someone who knew their chemistry *would* have noticed this.

Big Tech claims voters’ AI backlash is “anti-Trump” not “anti-tech”
Has anyone had lag spikes with YouTube RTMP streaming lately? I had issues yesterday and Cyan today.
It's not the internet, it's Google. Their frontend just stops accepting data (TCP window 0) for several seconds. OBS stats log it as network lag but it isn't.
From here it looks like a problem with their internal backbone network (between frontend and backend) or lag in YouTube's backend encoder.

@aesthr when I tell you that we have the same problem with those people and no matter what I've tried so far, I usually cannot get them to listen 😩 it's always super stressful because I gotta figure how to prevent my dog from getting retraumatiaed when we worked so hard to improve.
Ironically the only thing that works is when the dog coming at us is small and I loudly proclaimed ,"oh look, Nomi there's breakfast". All of a sudden these people remember how to come get their dog.
I'm sorry you and everyone has to deal with those assholes.
@thegrumpyenby no. it's not the same at all. And you clearly didn't read or understand the second post there
