Trump-endorsed Republican Victoria #Spartz, who moved from Ukraine to Indiana at 21 and became the first Ukrainian-born member of #Congress, lost her seat last night. In 2024 she voted against Ukraine aid when Russia was bombing the region she grew up in. She also said Ukraine can’t demand to keep all its land.

@arstechnica Is Wal-Mart still selling the $30 WingTech phone? They don't call it the WingTech phone. You just walk in and ask for "The $30 AT&T Phone". That one's not *super* small but it's pretty small, and the screen is an actual rectangle with no holes in it, and it has a headphone jack. If what someone really wants is "a cell phone from 12 years ago" this might be the phone they really want.

Election nerditry: Mississippi is getting a lot of attention, with it's razor-thin margin in the still-not-yet-fully-counted Senate contest and lack of a recount provision in its election law. Whoever wins, the loser is virtually guaranteed to feel unsatisfied by a process that denies them a safeguard that's available in some form in every other state.
This may serve as the catalyst for MS to add a recount trigger to its election law, but I think that would represent a missed opportunity.

I think the opposition parties in Israel are energised by the US midterm results.
It would be a mistake to think that a so-called "national unity" government that excludes Palestinians of 48, but includes the Kahanists and Likud, maybe without Netanyahu (who would get a presidential pardon out of the deal), is enough to realign with international and American publics.
