Oh that’s me! 😁 Yes. @ruud@lemmy.world made me aware of it. It’s brilliant. I’ve been loving it for the last day and I’m blown away. There’s no AI declaration, but this is a mountain of work for one person has done. So I honestly have my questions.

However, it honestly doesn’t matter to me. If it’s free code created from an open weight model that will exist without this project, then we need to be questioning how we stand on this.

Does LLM generated code matter when you get to self host it, it’s free software. And I’m honestly at the point where, I say use their weapon against Big Tech. This isn’t replacing anyone. This wouldn’t exist without it. It’s had commits over the last few years. I think it’ll depend on maintenance, but this can always be forked and should be if maintenance doesn’t work. Because I think this is incredible. The least we can do is learn from it.

@sknob that is in most examples (with many models) all very true, and I do understand these concerns of which I share many. And think it’s a valid argument to be against genAI.

I do think the problem with this perspective, is the generalization of the technology making every kind of use part of all the problems, on which I do not agree. There is problems, but there also people behind most (if not all) of these problems, people taking decisions (or avoid taking decisions, not to slow down).

Well, the @haskell_foundation has elected an outspoken transphobic, homophobic accelerationist to its board. That's a good thing that they avoid 'touchy topics' though.

for those keeping score at home, that’s at least the second functional programming language that anduril specifically has taken over as part of a fascist playbook move, specifically by installing their employees into the body that controls the language. to my knowledge, the first time they did this was with Nix, and the community and project have both been doing horribly since then.

I love it when @davidgerard decyphers "AGI" as "a guy instead". I thought of adding it to the AGI page on #Wiktionary. Unfortunately, I am failing to find a lot of good examples that aren't transcripts of his podcast or quotes thereof, and Wiktionary quite rightly lists quotations from "durably archived media, conveying meaning, in at least three independent instances spanning at least a year" as a requirement for inclusion.

In the west we are increasingly cautious and skeptical about AI (rightly so in my view) however the Asian markets are significantly more enthusiastic about it and its prospects. This device stands a good chance of being a hit in the Asian markets even if the western ones steer clear of it.

Ordered apple crumble at a busy restaurant. When it came out it was obvious the crumble topping wasn't cooked. Ate it anyway. Now when I make any fruit crumble I make extra crumb topping and eat it uncooked by the spoonful while the rest is in the oven.
