More seriously, fascists thrive in not being taken seriously when they appear to be losing. It ain't over until the professionally-trained people with guns no longer answer to him and people like him.
"Authoritarian con man" is a theory, and it's has worked surprisingly well. Just because it's trivial and morally repugnant doesn't mean we can dismiss it as ineffective.
