Okay, what idiot uses their WORK COMPUTER to do a job interview?! Wait, was this guy WORKING FOR A CRYPTO EXCHANGE?!?!
BleepingComputer: Binance says fake job interview led to $6.3 billion crypto heist
"...Cryptocurrency exchange Binance says North Korean hackers used a fake job interview to trick an employee into installing malware that ultimately let them compromise the company's wallet infrastructure and steal about $6.34 billion in digital assets..."
@ai6yr
It would be a convenient cover for an inside job.

A metaphor I found myself using recently & quite liked: Internationalization & accessibility work is like cleaning your room.
If you let your room get into a mess cleaning can take a lot of work, thus demotivating you from doing it. Especially if you find yourself cleaning up others' mess.
But once your room's clean it barely takes any effort to keep it clean! So its best to not let the mess happen in the 1st place.
@alcinnz Very true! 💯 I think this can be applied to developing software in general.
That's 100% skewed in a pro-capital direction. It - at best - damns with faint praise anything that doesn't have 'big capital' behind it. Because how're Big Tech or the Big Four or the IT Media supposed to make money off of it? It's in their *every* commercial interest to stifle it and stick to the gravy train. Here in NZ, we see it *every Thursday* on RNZ 9toNoon's 'tech segment' (sorry @billbennett) - Big Tech is news, because it's all that people think of when they think of tech. But...

...but. The internet is built on digital technologies from the time when software was for 'hackers' (in the playful, good sense, not the current media reframing) & the fork between capital & community in the software world. That fork resulted in two parallel universes. The Big Tech/Big Four/IT Media one, and the libre/open source one. The former has capital, the latter just has dedicated, talented people, largely uncompromised by greed, having fun scratching their own itches.

I used to work in a theatre box office and set myself the task of not selling a single ticket for any of the run of shows of an atrocity called 'Friendsical', a Friends musical, two things I loathe. I like to think I played a role in the subsequent cancellation of the shows.
@fesshole You work in a theatre box office but hate musicals? You should consider a change of career.
@GrapheneOS I would like to clarify, the introduction of Duress PIN / Password guarantees the complete removal of data from the phone without the possibility of their recovery, through the "Criminaist" program, which the Russian authorities use?
@BadPixel There's no way to recover any of the data after either a factory reset or duress PIN/password use. It reliably wipes 3 different forms of material needed to derive the key encryption keys. One of those is a wipe of secure element data which cannot be restored through an earlier image of the SSD.

@netbsd great, thank you!
