On Wed., I'm talking with some green bank folks about, uh, green banks! We're going to discuss this new report on the impact of the dozens of green banks scattered across the US -- how they're funded, what they fund in turn, how they measure impact, etc.
Got questions about green banks?

@mntyfrsh@mastodon.social @MntyFrsh@pixelfed.social Gotcha! Thanks, again.
@qwyllion The streak is broken! A bot just followed me. Haha. Still better than the daily follows last month though.

@me_valentijn @ai6yr LOL if I could afford it I'd get one of Simone's chairs
I used to pay my son £15 quid a time to wash my car. Now that he wants to play airsoft every month, I make him and his pals do it in exchange for a lift to the airsoft site. Only costs me about £3 in fuel, I'm saving £12.
@fesshole Are you also making minimum wage and maintenance costs on that?

@ai6yr @giflian @me_valentijn Was severely jet-lagged a few years ago, up at 4am, turned on the computer, saw Marie Kondo folding t-shirts...you can guess what happened next.

@zzt They're mostly marketing wank, but in my experience that style of "air squeegee" works surprisingly well to get the majority of liquid off if you do it right (and it's installed in a way that makes it possible...)
That said, I still prefer some good old recyclable/compostable dead tree. Less hand-crap vaporized and splattered all over the place.
@becomethewaifu@tech.lgbt @zzt This is the "you're prompting it wrong" of Dyson airblade boosters.
Linux had a number of benefits. It had a very clear vision of what it should achieve: offering an open source proper operating system alternative. And it had a dedicated BDFL to oversee and steer its evolution process. During that evolution a helluva professional organization structure and development process was put in place to ensure things didn't go off the rails (an organization that receives criticism from fans for its corporate-commercial tendencies).
The fediverse lacks those things until now. It is a wholly chaotic grassroots environment with laissez-faire haphazard development in all directions based on a protocol that is too loose, too flexible to ensure any kind of real interoperability. The accepted work method of post-facto interoperability leads to Big ball of mud and Whack-a-mole development anti-patterns.
Fediverse can certainly be inspired by Linux. But it must address these shortcomings. And in a way that fits its culture and values.
@smallcircles @panos No that i disagree, but do you see organizing as first step or "someone build and share interop testing" first?
i get that but
the thing is tho, they really needed each other. i dont wanna give too much away in case you end up reading it
@rustoleumlove Ha, will add it to my library list.

@feld@friedcheese.us Yup. But it's not doing that on my iceshrimp stuff. Even though the configs are the same. Something about Lemmy is doing something it shouldn't. Time to start parsing logs for the three different reverse proxies involved.
