I dunno where the Dem Party gets the consultants running these campaigns but they are CONSISTENTLY fucking terrible at this. It's why any progressive with a 5 member teenage social media team runs circles around these McKinsey rejects.

@mattblaze we also need to keep in mind that people *committing* (or trying to commit) fraud are often the quickest and loudest people to accuse someone else of fraud.
@wordshaper How do we know that? The amount of actual documented fraud in modern US elections has been so miniscule that I'm not sure it's possible to generalize about it.

@ai6yr oh boy start potting them in big ass barrels.
@Catawu Thinking I will wait longer, but I do think I'll move some of these into pots near the house, maybe try a few as houseplants.
It is the plagiarism machine being used for plagiarism, but also it is random people using AI to take control back over devices, like defunct exercise bikes. Welcome to the wild west of AI:

@404mediaco Using AI to revive a defunct exercise bike is a compelling argument for giving owners more control over their devices.
the more unnerving thing that didn't occur to me until i started writing this thread: between 1990-2010 i remember encountering, periodically, "jokes" about men not being able to "find the clitoris". then this stopped. it stopped being a part of our shared cultural discussion. is the implication that men STOPPED trying to find the clitoris? was this a part of the Trump revolution?
@mcc I think the implication is that it stopped being possible for men to be ignorant in good faith. Last century, it was normal for men to not even be aware that female sexual pleasure exists. Today, it's more natural to assume that a man who ignores his partner's pleasure is a man who just doesn't care. The jokes came from a specific inflection point between those two conditions.

@ai6yr coffee grounds are highly acidic. Most plants don't tolerate acid soil. You should restrict how much you put in the garden or on a compost heap because of this. Yet another reason to drink tea...
@UkeleleEric Actually, not... but even if they were, would not be a problem here in our part of the world, which is basic soil.

“I’m nog going to give you a civic lesson”…
🤣 He was not just delivering a lecture, but explaining to a couple of political pundits on CNN’s Crossfire, in almost painstaking detail, what was going to happen and why. 🫶
This problem also applies to the rest of our library and house. Most of the boxes packed up and moved were books. And we bought so many bookshelves for the new place to make up for the loss of our old library that it turns out we actually have lots of space for even more books....
@cwebber
....until the next book sale. . .
( I have 48' of 12.5' high and 24' of 7.5' high book shelves packed up in boxes. )
Do reread Brandeis' stirring defense of political speech, quoted at the opening of the decision against Trump in the case of the Epstein birthday card and News Corp. I fear the fascists will continue to attack Sullivan.

@hzulla Cron, of course, dates back to a world in which:
- computers were a significantly smaller part of the load on the power grid
- we didn't have tightly synchronized clocks everywhere (no NTP yet)
- we didn't have architectures in which power consumption was as tightly linked to computational load

US midterm elections coming up this Tuesday.
There will be a fairly large number of tight contests, and in each one of them, someone who thought they might win will lose. And none of them, and none of their supporters, will be be happy about it.
Remember that this is not, in and of itself, evidence of fraud.
@mattblaze we also need to keep in mind that people *committing* (or trying to commit) fraud are often the quickest and loudest people to accuse someone else of fraud.
Now then, who ALREADY knows who it was that intended to be...
"...a freak for the rest of my life, and I shall baffle you with cabbages and rhinoceroses in the kitchen, incessant quotations from "Now We Are Six" through the mouthpiece of Lord Snooty's giant, poisoned, electric head
SO THEEEEEEEEEEEEERE!"
And succeeded 😁💕
