@waldo.net Also, Edsels didn't catch fire nearly as often.

@christianselig yeah been enjoying mine. Some first gen device silliness (the vertical Dynamic Island is rubbish) but not enough to detract from my overall enjoyment

Fediverse
You just mention the community’s handle like you would another user, and that creates the thread. Hence the @fediverse. Behind the scenes, the community then does the equivalent of a “boost” to push the thread to everyone who is following the community. If I recall correctly.
@mkb I do love them, I've been rereading some. But BOY Ron Post does not age well in our times of Actual Fucking Nazis.
@mdhughes Ooof, I’d forgotten that part. Yeah, I miss when nazis were more abstract.
Fediverse is basically like
"I'm only targeting the sighted community with my posts"
"YOU MONSTER"
"I'm only targeting the English speaking community"
"Okay cool nbd"

@fediverse Writing this from Mastodon as a Test. Hello!
Today I’m thinking about how the new Music app icon is black-on-white but how the same Music app for Apple TV is white-on-black. 🤔
@louie Do you run one in Dark Mode and not the other? It inverts based on that in iOS, probably tvOS too (haven’t tested it).

How much of the prose written by your average developer or tech manager today would people guess is generated?
All of it?
My impression is that the ones that are hooked run pretty much anything text-shaped through a chatbot because they genuinely think bot writing is better
Putting this another way: isn't it likely that most posts—social, forum, blog, etc.—by pro-"AI" or even centrist developers today are going to be at least partially LLM-generated?
@baldur if they're up to their eyeballs in generated text they'll start talking like that even when not using LLMs, which makes it hard to tell the difference
@TheOneDoc good aim on the Indonesians' part

CoMaps
Eh deleted all my reviews after google accepted a claim that my 3* review of one shitty ass shop in Germany was defamation, ignored my response and removed it. Hell, I’d argue it was net positive review (otherwise not wouldn’t be a 3* IMO), but the abuse of the system in Germany is wild and clearly Google doesn’t give a fuck just like the rest of their products.
Anyway still waiting for opportunity to “transfer” all my photos from google maps. Ever since they changed what counts as storage use in drive, I’ve used maps to store useful or nice photos from hikes/parks/nature that I didn’t necessarily wanna keep stored on the phone.
Edit: ooh this also does mention the export/import of photos. Guess I gotta try it!
