@ajroach42 So it's like this. design of how electricity and magnetism move around 3d physical metal objects is one of the fundamental building blocks of the modern world. In order to design things that work, we don't compute using the old paper and pen method now, we use computers which simulate the behavior of the structure we want to build using fairly brute force math, just lots of very simple equations solved over and over, much like LLM. As with LLM, this can scale up to lots of computers if you have the right tools to do that. The dominant technology for this in applied physics and electrical engineering of high speed electronic devices has for decades been for profit blood sucking parasite SaaS companies who charge you *per processor core* so that if you want to use YOUR OWN on-site infrastructure to scale up, you have to pay 100x higher rent to the parasites to deploy on 100 cores. Licensing is frustrating and expensive, and it's still a nightmare to use.
Then Amazon comes along and decides they want to own the quantum cloud, should such a thing ever exist. So they throw vast amounts of money at the space, literally tripling peoples salaries overnight to walk away from their life to go move fast and break things in the Amazon empire Pasadena.
Those people find that having these blood sucking parasites extract rent from people trying to just solve equations from the 1880s using simple algebra is fucking up their moves fast and break things plan.
So they decide to spin up a free open source alternative and throw their internal resources at making it awesome as fast as possible. It is then instantly adopted by a bunch of move fast and break things Amazon people who drive it to get better very fast, and now all of a sudden it starts to spread in academia and government where people find they already have in house infrastructure spun up for this idiotic LLM stuff but you can also use it for this, and suddenly instead of paying a ton of money for a shitty broken thing, you have a thing that's 100x more powerful that costs zero dollars and is built on modern work flows that are a lot less clunky than the shitty thing it's replacing.
So in an insanely short time, an insurgent technology is coming in and totally blowing up the worst kind of parasitic landlord software and it's not a VC backed startup or a hippie open source idealistic project, it's just a bunch of super turbo corpos who believe in nothing trying to move as fast as possible. Their leftovers are our tech revolution. It's literally possible to build foundational industrial standards on this stuff, which can immediately scale up to whole nations and industries with the right push in the right spots.
