Can someone that actually gives a crap about design, governance structures and user experience build an alternative to Proton? #Proton #ProtonMail #Email #AI
Nearly 1 in 5 US workers in a survey said they’d been laid off or replaced by AI, then asked to return.
Separately, 32% of organizations that cut staff expecting AI savings reported rehiring.
Companies are discovering that automating tasks isn’t the same as replacing employees.
Of course, the flip side is that 68% of companies surveyed that made AI-related layoffs didn’t report rehiring workers.
So not all AI-driven layoffs are backfiring.
@carnage4life @pberry these numbers seem ridiculously high.
Actually just posted this a day or two back:
@darth_hideout haha, that’s a great little episode! Wonderfully absurd.
Nitter needs legal representation.

I’ve seen what happens when a country forgets its principles, and I’ve seen what happens when people stand up for them. Today, standing up looks like casting your ballot. Join me in voting and making your voice heard, for yourself, your community, and your loved ones. It may feel small, but together our ballots add up to real change. 🗳️
@georgetakei Democracy? Oh My!
@chillicampari made it on top of acropolis. Just a little bitching but healthwise perfectly. The cane helped.

@ai6yr i could be wrong, but i don’t think rhabdo has a straightforward relationship with training / prep (aside from like, if you’re doing intense “practice” right before intense effort you can be setting yourself up for it). if anything i’d expect the statistical correlation would be with more-trained athletes being willing to try to “push through it”
despite a few intermittent power failures, i managed to draw this tonight

@RickiTarr "Did you know we can just sneak into their camp at night and kill them in their sleep?" is another fun tactic that brilliant strategists throughout history liked to employ.

@ryan Bummer... just wondering if there's some prevention possible.
Oh, man. It seems like whoever runs Nitter is really having A Time

Goodreads removed RSS and some people are asking for alternatives on Reddit; maybe worth pointing to BookWyrm and NeoDB?

Both fediverse softwares that support user reviews for books, both have RSS support natively (no Piefed/Misskey bridge needed), and some comments also seem discontent with Amazon's mismanagement overall.
I have been trying to work since 4:45 this morning. I can’t concentrate. I’ve experienced a lot of midterm elections in my life, but nothing close to this stressful. And yet most of my anxiety is about what happens (or doesn’t) after we win this round. I can’t shed this fear that the Democrats will stumble into a 3rd impeachment effort. And that would be catastrophically stupid. Impeaching Hegseth, on the other hand, should be job #2, right after shoving a truckload of Epstein files straight …
up Donald Trump’s ass.
