Walking around my neighbourhood trying to find where I parked my car thinking how much doing this would be easier with a car
@viktorTheBoar lazy people would just report it as stolen 🤪

I forget who described Stevens's drama as "political self-immolation".
I’m told (by trolls) than I should be more polite to trolls.
It could be worse: you could have defeated Ms. Haley Stevens in a primary.

DOJ announced it is going to monitor elections in select cities and counties in all 50 states. I want to go thru the list, but it seems heavily focused on Democrat-leaning or swing cities/districts, & some with higher rates of Black, Hispanic & Indigenous voters.

@mekkaokereke <3 you might also like Lazarusman, DJ and poet (Searching for w Xinobi, and Letter to your X). Many of his lyrics give me goosebumps, and make me miss home.
I’ve just seen the phrase “AI husband community” - like I just DO NOT WANT TO KNOW - that’s an already terrifying phrase all by itself
@junklight maybe they mean "AI husbandry"...which honestly is also terrifying
I WILL EAT THESE ALL DAY (I will be staying a whole month in a coastal city and I don't plan to spend money on food; I shall fish, or gather crabs from rocky areas)

Do you read library books in the bathroom?
@annika Not a library book. They're not mine to do that
I’ve been deluged in the last couple of weeks by AI-authored emails wanting to promote vibe-coded subscription software tools. I’m simply ignoring them all now.
They’re quite easy to spot: they normally start with a reference to what I’ve written at some point; then a weirdly-phrased few paragraphs about the product (often with a UTM-tracked URL); then an offer of a free month’s subscription; and finally a oddly phrased thing about this email not being a request for paid coverage. They’re rarely from a human being - often from “The BlahApp Team” or similar.
Just hitting the delete key is oddly satisfying; but I may have to resort to using some form of filter to get rid of them.
In any case, in most cases Stephen Robles has vibecoded a better product, and given it away free. I really don’t want another paid-for transcription tool, or a paid-for captioning tool, or a paid-for wrapper for ffmpeg. Not should anyone else.

@psychicparrot42 Genuinely dystopian for teachers to become glorified middlemen for slopped "average sentence" conveying to children.
And those who pay enough to avoid it will still get individual human tuition in exactly how to exploit the rest (who are limited to being taught slop and to rely on the limits of slop in life).
@shivoa This is exactly what the rich want isn’t it? Private schools being the only way to get education. It annoys me is that the teachers unions should be screaming about this.. but, so far? Nothing. Teachers are out there literally presenting a case for themselves to be fired by the school board and replaced with AI and a few unskilled bodies. And they’re just merrily going along with it thinking it makes their day easier! Boggles my nog.
So uhh
What are the chances tomorrow goes real bad, in your opinion?
@ajroach42 I think it's unlikely Trump will try anything that would overtly go completely outside the bounds of law. The thing I'm most worried about is him going all out and trying to "win" against Iran before the new Congress cuts off his funding. With the hopes that if he starts WWIII he can then claim "now is not the time to change horses".
I'm reading about a Word "clone", apparently made by the same people who recreated "clones" of Adobe's software suite.
I don't know how legal any of this is, and I'm not going to get into that. But I can't help smiling at the reactions.
When they started pushing AI, they told us we would lose our jobs, whether we liked it or not. That AI would replace us, whether we liked it or not.
Now that someone has decided to apply the very same principle to their products, suddenly they don't like it anymore.
"You can create new games, but you can't recreate existing ones."
Hurts, doesn't it?
And that's the point. The problem isn't the technology itself, but the way certain sharks use it at other people's expense. When they're the ones on the receiving end, and only then, ethics suddenly becomes a concern again.
@stefano
This is completely legal as long as you didn't literally steal their source code from their repositories. It's a beautiful thing because it breaks corporate monopolies, but it can also hurt independent developers and emerging startups.
I'm not sure I understand you here. Are you saying that men who reach out for help find their vulnerability used against them? I can certainly imagine that happening in certain social circles and work environments.
@CppGuy @EUCommission Yes, I can only speak from personal experiences
That goes for friends, family or even loved ones unfortunate
