The era of #Trump is over 🥳
Is there any reason I shouldn't just recycle a 2007 era Mac Mini?
Its power consumption compared to an equally powerful Raspberry Pi seems to make it not worth plugging in again.
@nickfarr The 2007 model apparently can only do 4 GB RAM, so ... yeah.
I've been using a 2009 Mac Mini with Linux until not too long ago (8GB RAM and an SSD), which was really a better experience than a RasPi400 as a desktop... Well, as long as it didn't have to drive a screen larger than maybe 1280x1024 for anything that moves around.
Aaaanyway... Likely too new for retrocomputing, too old to be of much use.

Goodreads removed RSS and some people are asking for alternatives on Reddit; maybe worth pointing to BookWyrm and NeoDB?
Goodreads removed RSS and some people are asking for... #fediverse #goodreads #bookwyrm #neodb #rssfeeds
Both fediverse softwares that support user reviews for books, both have RSS support natively (no Piefed/Misskey bridge needed), and some comments also seem discontent with Amazon's mismanagement overall.

@PhillyCodeHound hopefully that’s dropped off at a polling location, as it’s way too late to put it in the mail. 😬

I don't know where I'm going with this. The words aren't flowing this evening.
I think the right idea is to head to sleep and see if the world makes any more sense tomorrow.
I know it won't, but I can pretend long enough to drift off to sleep.
There's been a lot of "going through the motions" and hoping the meaning will come back, eventually.
Maybe tomorrow.
@signalstation My father’s cremated remains are in the front hall, for lack of a better place to put them. I’m like you—the box of ashes is a weird marker of the place he used to be, but he’s not there and never will be again. I’m hoping the urn helps my mother remember better, or maybe it can serve as a comfort for someone who visits. Maybe I’m secretly hoping it will do that for me too. I hope AJ’s stone helps their family, and that the helping in turn helps you.
To clarify, they are being deported to the sun.
YAY!!!!!!!!!! It couldn't have happened to a bunch of "nicer" assholes😂
Just now? Or days ago?

Had to block an account for jumping in my mentions suggesting people vote 3rd party or not at all if their crush/bff didn't win the primary.
I don't have the energy for pointless arguments with bots/trolls/morons.
No matter what nifty arguments you might hear now or in the future, just vote. Vote for the option closest to your priorities or that will do the least harm.
Only your opponents benefit from protest votes or non-votes.
@dcdeejay exactly

@PhoenixSerenity
I am a musician, and I am anti-fascist. However, only a small percentage of my music is anti-fascist, because nobody wants me to play that stuff. I have tried for decades to get the IWW to pay me to go somewhere and play they want me to just volunteer my time and money that I don't have.

@ozeng @ai6yr Given the harbor it's in (which I know well), it's actually not that scary looking.
Lately, the abandoned stuff in this harbor that isn't worth bringing back to life is just getting chopped up, since there's a local company now that does disposal. This *could* actually be a worthwhile project.
But it's not a free boat. It's a starting point for a long and expensive project. There are people that get into these things with a good understanding of what they're up to.
