@cwebber what made me most sad about his retelling was that there was a hard rule: no AI-generated graphics or music.
But code? just let claude do it lmao
@datarama well it goes to show that it's worth putting down rules as expectations still

@jcoglan a thought I've been kicking around awhile in my head, is that we already know that a lot of what LLMs break in society are proof-of-work barriers. "Do you care enough about this grant to write the application yourself?" "Do you care enough about this story to write the screenplay yourself?" LLMs create trust problems here, because they exist to do forgery on these checks, sometimes even perjury.
But these creative works also take a hit in quality. You are taking individual thought from many different angles, with an eye toward novelty and coherence, and your ability to explain and maintain, and replacing it with the statistical average as limited by a context window, like cutting a bag of sugar with talc.
What a lot of tech people refuse to hear is that code is art and these problems still apply. The real thing of value is not the code, it's the time investment. There is no substitute. LLMs are time forgery.

Is there a way to not see duplicate of the same topic across different communities?
Hi everyone!
I’m really enjoying the Fediverse through Lemmy and Peertube.
One creator I enjoy and follow on the Fediverse is Gardiner Bryant as his content is really enjoyable.
Sadly he ´s the target of my post as he shares his content on many different communities that I follow.
Today I had 5 times the same topic on RetroDeck (great project too) on my feed on Lemmy (Voyager).
It is the same on PieFed (Interstellar).
This is really annoying and I haven’t found a way to not show these duplicates. Do you know about one or is it worked on?
Also when crossposting, it would be great if everything appeared under on post. Is it feasible?
Sorry if it’s easy and I just missed it. In a way I hope it is because it would mean that the Fediverse is festure rich😇
@bedirthan @ai6yr Nightmare fuel that is. I work in a space adjacent to that and know just how damn hard it is to get through to people. How much uncertainty there is in making these decisions.
You can go door to door and that still isn't enough.
I am glad they are starting to get away from the "watch vs warning" framing. I still have to take a beat to remember which is which. . The newer "Ready Set Go" will hopefully help people understand.
Any communication that works is the right communication method.
@sewblue @bedirthan We're all extremely close (professoinally) to these systems in this conversation, lol.
@mario_afk @rek let me know! I was planning on doing a new build this month so that would be great :D

Oh boy I also remember that scene from #Walkaway over and over again.

Piefed web interface does stack comments if cross posted, so I’m guessing the poster isn’t bothering to cross post if it isn’t showing that way in Intersellar.
“ 3% of ‘critical’ software security bugs, in all of recorded history, have been found in the last month. This is on pace to find another ~100,000 bugs this year alone, adding ~26% more vulnerabilities to the all time total Do you realize how fucking insane that is?
Yes. It is a new world out there.”

While the fascist fucks at ICE are busy terrorizing immigrant communities, the state is also going after people who dare to resist their bullshit.
Meet Maricela Rueda, a PrairieLand defender arrested after protesting outside an ICE detention facility in Texas. She's facing 70 years in prison and is currently being held in solitary confinement, where she's being strip-searched and shackled every time she leaves her cell.
SEVENTY FUCKING YEARS for allegedly participating in a protest!
Now her comrades are organizing to raise $100,000 for legal defense and to fight to get her out of solitary.
They're looking for 40 teams to raise $2,000 each by November 30.
So if you've got a few bucks to spare, or some comrades who can help raise funds, now's the fucking time.
Solidarity isn't a spectator sport, motherfuckers!
Capitole du Libre 2026
I will present a short demo: "Krita: features you didn't know about", where I'll try to surprise the audience with features you had no idea they existed (in French).
When/Where: Sunday 15 November from 11h30 to 11h55, room A201, Toulouse, France.

@farah sorry your post took 16 seconds to read. What did you say? I've forgotten already.
@Mrfunkedude heh
Is there much difference in user experience between regular Linux Mint and Linux Mint Debian Edition? Assuming the majority of my PC use is a very simple "I install a flatpak and surf the web." The only thing that isn't under that category is I have Docker and Jellyfin.
I always feel cooler when i reboot from the terminal 😎

Walking up to a queer couple, “So uhh which one of you is the shitposter and which one of you is the lurker?”
I know Ai sucks but pretty sure our collective brainrot started with TikTok. If it’s not 15 sec or less, no one watches anything anymore
