Toronto folk, the TTC is partnering with TMU to conduct a study about subway musicians. Among other things they want to hear from riders about how the presence of buskers affect feelings of comfort and safety. Do you love encountering musicians in the subway as much as I do? Be a citizen scientist and let the researchers know.

@alice@lgbtqia.space lol taking 'musical' out makes it a challenge
"But I burn down the Amazon to grow cattle for the hungry!"
Good intentions or no, you're still burning down the Amazon. ¯\(ツ)/¯
@abekonge @liaizon @niels FYI, I tested "Private groups" on Friendica (friendica.dk), and it works kind of ok on friendica.dk itself. But when trying to test it across platforms and even across different Friendica-instances, it quickly fell apart. I agree that this was lack of consensus across ActivityPub implementations.
I stand by my original take - the effort of creating an entire new platform was better put to use in contributing to existing implementations. But ofc that is not as sexy as having a platform of ones own 😊.
@jrossstocholm @abekonge @niels I don't think testing Friendica gives you a good indication of whats possible on the protocol side. Friendica has been hacked together from so many different angles and projects over the years, it wasn't really cohesively designed for any one protocol. While I am glad Friendica exists I don't think its a good base to build off of. There are many many projects who have built out various parts of this. Lemmy has recently been working on private group support.
Oh btw, if you ever run across red "DANGER" tape barriers, please know that its much more serious business than a yellow "CAUTION" tape. "Danger" essentially mean a hazard could readily maim or kill.
(Assuming that people are using the tape properly and not just because they couldn't find the yellow or whatever 🙄)

@ariaflame @alan except in the military, where they move you around regularly to meet staffing needs.
Assumedly somewhere a captain retires and they need someone like Riker to take the helm, then Data becomes a first officer, and so on.

Close, but made it into the 25 %.
@dougmerritt I should probably write it up.
I enjoyed the talk, but especially the demonstration of different cases on the spreadsheet. Just possibly could be a little more of that, a little slower?
And the cases where Pollard Rho fails, that seems interesting, not sure one could say anything - how rare it is, perhaps?
There's a time inefficiency to the chasing around, which is justified (i think) by the saving in space - you mentioned that, but maybe worth a little more emphasis, as it very seems one is doing more work than necessary.
as you know, this wasn't entirely new territory to me, so I'm not quite the target audience.
As I mentioned elsewhere, for some reason in the last couple of weeks of the election cycle Donald Trump started talking about candidates' asses. I think it started as a weird tangent, but as usual he doubled down on it.
@evan I think he’s actually gay. Strange fixations on men’s body parts.

By endorsing Abdul El-Sayed’s opponent for Israel’s sake, Stevens shows how the real threat to progress comes from centrists. https://theintercept.com/2026/11/02/haley-stevens-mike-rogers-endorsement-el-sayed-democrats
@theintercept Since Haley Stevens has lied about everything (specifically claiming she would not endorse Rogers) why do you believe her stated reason for this sabotage?
@munin “Panic is a threat surface” is such a brilliant way to put this.
Definitely has applications beyond infosec as well (political ragebait comes to mind).
