Clayface was excellent. Sad, poignant, amazing FX, Naomi Ackie was amazing as always. 9/10
@shanselman so you’re saying that DC Studios *can* make a good superhero movie?
Happy Halloween, remember that candy needling stories are hoaxes and the more you fearmonger over them the more you encourage actual kids to hide needles in candy themselves as a hoax

Reminder! More kids get hit by cars on Halloween than any other day of the year. Drive sober, slow, and with your full attention. 💕
Feral kitty Inspector Clouseau wants everyone to know that he is very scary. The sweet meows before and after, and the allowance of single pet, does not change that!

making me feel despair lately: the realization that sharing information with strangers is pretty much always going to lead to that information being included in industrial LLM training data (absent extreme levels of security discipline). even if we ran a usb key sneakernet, all it takes is one person plugging the drive in on a computer with networked backups. even if we distributed everything on paper, all it takes is one mobile phone camera app that stores its data in the cloud
so many workflows for basic tasks run through "the cloud," and i feel like even technically inclined and otherwise security literate computer users nowadays don't really have a good grasp on which EULA is applying to what service, or what data permissions they've opted into/out of. and also cloud providers are extremely incentivized to train on your data without real consent, and then justify it to you later by saying it was "anonymized" or whatever
I’d like to thank Binance for teaching a load of crypto bros why banking regulations that make it possible to reverse fraudulent transactions exist.

If you want to see everything, world might not be the best place. If you click on blocked there, you see all the instances that are blocked by lemmy.world.
There are instances that don’t, or barely, block any instances. That’s where you are most likely to find “everything”

“I want to see everything” means that I want to see even the places that in theory I have no business being in.

I think you’re misunderstanding how .world works. Lemmy.world doesn’t mean it’s open to everything, that’s just the instance name. They actually block and defederate from a lot of communities and instances.
If you want to see everything and judge for yourself, just pick an instance with a minimal defederation policy. That’s why I picked .zip so I can curate my feed the way I want it.
Before signing up for an instance, scroll down and read their instance policies so you understand what you’re signing up for.

A few blocks east of me are the towns of Brentwood and North Brentwood. Until 2024, a metal barrier stood on a quiet road between them. Brentwood was a sundown town, all white. North Brentwood, in the flood zone, was where Black families lived. White residents once patrolled the barrier, throwing rocks to keep Black neighbors out. In 2024, the towns tore it down. Rather than erase that history, they commissioned a local sculptor to create a memorial to it, and to the lives it shaped.
