Could well be, if this idea has legs;
I have not been online as much.
In the past handful of weeks, I have:
- Watched a movie outside in the park on a blow up projector screen.
- Went to a local set of horror plays written by local playwrights. We voted on which one we liked the best (ranked choice) and whoever wins will have a chance to produce a full play locally.
- Went to the local symphony orchestra (small town, but dang the local folks can play!) and even watched a guest violinist play amazingly!
- Went on a "ghost tour" which is really just a local history tour but with fun things mixed in
- Went to some lovely gardens and museums
Annnnnnd some other stuff like going downtown and listening to street buskers (and tipping), checking out local art shows, going to fun events in the various parks.
Many of those activities were free. The ones that cost money were cheaper than eating at McDonalds.
I've been doing other things like trying to run again, and sit in meditation with others, and play my fipple flute, and build up food infrastructure.
Things are quiet now. And I'm finding ways to be quiet with other folks around me. And it is lovely.

It's hard to not feel that any win against fascism is temporary. The fascists have no intention of just rolling over and giving up. My remaining years on this earth will probably be characterized by a never-ending struggle, often violent, between democrats and fascists. And so-called moderates will always be there to make sure fascists have an advantage.
Technical question about podcasting / radio: how do you record an online call with three separate guests plus me as a conductor, while all of us listen to the same music in the background?
This is what we did this weekend, the end result was good but there was too much (really) hassle and quite some work in post-production. Before telling you how I did this, I would like to hear how you (would) do it, please.
@icaria36 I recommend you try these folks. We evaluated them on out own tech podcast years ago, and they're still there!

I'm the dev here if anyone has any questions, I was waiting till it was in a more finalized state to announce it. Also full transparency since this community is a little more sensitive on it, this project has been agentically built over the course of the last 1-2 years, but I am a SWE in my day job.
I'm sure most people here would be more curious about the ActivityPub -> atproto bridge, I call this Tidepool code is here: https://tangled.org/bretton.dev/tidepool
I'm planning full Lemmy / Piefed / Pylova federation, the goal is not only to be read only here! Ex my comment is from Coves! Communities themselves aren't being federated yet though.
OP I'd love to know what was spamming you, I can help tackle that we don't have many users and signups are disabled, but I do have some automated bot posts running but those shouldn't be federating yet.
@ivory ok this is actually broken in different ways; when I set '3' it adds 3 and now the window is comically wide (screenshot taken from Expose)
@ctietze Try restarting the app and it should be fixed? There is a window bug that appears on occasion that we need to fix.

Here’s an 80-second iPad mini announcement video.

@ianRobinson Sweet, I was just looking at getting a new one for just ebook reading. My iPad Air is always busy playing video or music or something.
@baldur what was the name before?
@independentpen I've mostly just operated using my name "Baldur Bjarnason" but the podcast and newsletter have always been sent out under the name of my first book: "Out of the Software Crisis"
