#Mastodon is getting a new look in our upcoming 5.0 release.
We wrote a bit more about our design process and how we approach community input. If you’re on mastodon.social you will see the new design tomorrow, on Tuesday. We rely on your feedback!
@Mastodon Since I can't get the forum to load, I just wanted to check here: is the new "likes" system is just a cosmetic name change or are you passing "Like" events onto followers?
BREAKING NEWS: $DASH reports dividends in face of decreased shares #BreakingNews
New Mastodon web interface looks great. I hope Exquisite gets it soon.
Not to give @h3artbl33d any more work than he already has, but I'd love to have it!
That feeling when you can't wait to go to court.

@cr1901 @pinskia The cargo ecosystem (hundreds of random untrustworthy deps in everything) is an orders-of-magnitude-worse security problem than lack of memory-safety.
Especially when the vast majority of programs are not attack surface where lack of memory-safety matters. While *all programs* are backdoor-surface.
Even if the program I want to run does not do anything with untrusted data files or accessing a network, I can get popped just by building/installing it if one of the countless shit transitive-deps off cargo got popped.

i just want a home. or at least... at least somewhere okay, that isn't bleeding me completely dry and risking what's left of my health on top
alreadyfeel like I've compromised far too much again, because what fucking choice is there
I hope that's just all my frustration and lifetime of trauma around this exact kind of bullshit talking
@sinvega Fingers crossed for you

There’s no reason to believe that this mechanism doesn’t check for CSAM (I am also pretty stumped that this is actually a problem with Mastodon according to your comment?) . Lemmy had a phase where messed up stuff got federated, which led to @db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com’s implementation of an anti-CSAM tool: https://github.com/db0/fedi-safety, which is based on the CSAM detection tool for the AI Horde: https://dbzer0.com/blog/ai-powered-anti-csam-filter-for-stable-diffusion/ - it’s probably not so hard to adapt for Mastodon too.

We're tired of the Nerd Reich. We know you are, too. Hopefully more people make the jump to Mastodon now.
If you were a final boss and you were designing your boss arena, what would it be?
KDE is firing on all cylinders, Brave says they're the best browser, CERN moves to Debian
made the involuntary mistake of thinking about where I was a year ago, what I should have spent this week celebrating, and like 4 or 5 other rapid fire things I looked forward to for a long time only for some comfortable arsehole's bullshit to cause me to miss them
bad idea
need sleep. need food. need hold. need safe home. need security. need to be fucking working instead of doing free labour

You know how sometimes sleep is like slipping into a warm ocean but then sometimes taking a nap is like a door slamming or plunging into deep water at speed and it's like just falling directly into utter howling blackness
@mcc there is no falling asleep, there is only waking up

We still have the odd Apple fanatic attacking and insulting me because I don't blindly suck Apple dick.
Blast from the past, honestly. ☺️

Farm workers are picking tomatoes in Los Banos area. "We go in at 7am and get off at 1pm. We are bent over for those hours and our backs ache by the end of the work day. When we get home we often take pain meds and use ointments for relief." #WeFeedYou
