Something I've noticed while on book tour for the past couple of weeks is that Mastodon is a really good way to let people know about bookstore events. So many people I've met on the road have told me that they found out about my book tour from me or other folks on the fedi. I think it's partly because so many book-loving people are on Mastodon. But also if you compare Mastodon to places like Bluesky or Insta, the community here has a higher percentage of actual humans vs. bots or operatives.

why is an installer for a javascript package running what top describes as "cc1". This system doesn't even have a C compiler on it because I thought that would take up too much space. Is this why my drive is out of space

I copied some of the video files and now I'm going home.
When we had our record store, sometimes we would cart all the records outside, throw a piece plywood across our counter/desk, support it with some saw horses, and invite bands in to play.
This, inevitably resulted in dozens of smashed records, a huge mess, and a great time.
I found some footage of one of those nights. We never did anything with it.
As I was scrubbing it, I came across this little bit of ephemera. That's me, 12ish years ago, taking the go-pro down at the end of the night.
Sometimes things don't change.
