npm is doing some goddamn thing or other
why is an installer for a javascript package running what top describes as "cc1". This system doesn't even have a C compiler on it because I thought that would take up too much space. Is this why my drive is out of space
this is a thin vps with no disk space and no ram. why are you compiling software on it. why is my load average 12 :(
like if i knew you were going to be building C code and taking 20 minutes to do it because *this isn't a build server* i probably wouldn't have been deploying via pnpm at all, i'da like, built, on a machine, more powerful than a toaster. and rsynced.
all this because you wanted to replace "sqlite3" with "better-sqlite3". is it better? is it really? how much better? is it *really* just sqlite3 but vibecoded?
if you were going to add a step in your npm install process that could take 20 minutes on a slow machine, couldn't you at least have provided more messaging than "better-sqlite3: Running install script…" and leaving me to stare at `top` to figure out if you're still working or if you've hung…?
