@mobilizon thank you for the response. That might work for you or me, but it won't work well for regular folks. They're used to being able to do everything from the same interface and service. Plus, it would be a pain for me trying to provide tech support and documentation to other folks.
If you really want Mobilizon to be a replacement for Meetup and other big tech event planning services, I highly recommend you prioritize implementing recurring events. Right now, Mobilizon is probably fine for the occasional and big event but not sufficiently functional for groups that have frequent periodic meetings/events/gatherings.
Regarding search, that sounds like an area where Mobilizon should examine the UI/UX. If users will be overwhelmed by recurring events then perhaps there needs to be an easy way to filter by date range (e.g., only show events for the month of November), collapse recurring event series, and/or exclude results from YXZ group (that has a large number of events).
I am perhaps coming across as harsh but that is partly due to me getting excited then discovering missing core functionality around event planning. The other part is a bit of frustration around FOSS projects that promote themselves as replacements for Big Tech yet they have significant usability or functionality gaps. Having launched six years ago, I feel like that is way more than sufficient time to have implemented recurring events and events series.
