@jwildeboer @stux @gbargoud While true in theory, from what we have seen in this latest wave (at least in my knowledge) this is not the case here and it comes from “plain old” credential leaks and password reuse.

@evan I dont want companies and gouvernements here… I'm here because they're not.
@Steel_Virgin You and I are working on different projects, then.
You should be able to control what you see and who you follow, but you don't get a veto on what the rest of us see and who the rest of us follow.
@Austin_Dern you can't just throw that on the floor like a bucket of custard and refuse to elaborate
Faites attention pour celles et ceux qui traînent encore sur TwitterX.
Les fanboy d'Elon/Tesla/SpaceX ont mis plein de sperme partout sur le réseau social. Ça colle de partout.

@bkuhn@copyleft.org @copiesofcopies@social.coop @cwebber@social.coop i think it can be reasonable to use unethical technology if there is no other choice, for example if your employer is forcing you to use proprietary software or genai; or your government (or bank) requires a proprietary app. however, this doesn't mean it's good. we should strive to minimize usage of these unethical things as much as we can
systemic issues generally are not solved by personal decisions, but many people going against a systemic issue can be a path to solving it. it's sort of a "when do a few pieces of sand become a heap of sand?" kinda situation. the way this informs how i do activism is that i try not to target individuals, and try to go against the wider issue
also, personal decisions can cause ripples if people are open about those decisions: i openly decide to avoid proprietary software and i openly object to all genai. i also openly decide to avoid consuming animal products. the act of doing this by itself may not do much, but i am setting an example for others, who can do the same, and together we are much stronger
i don't think it's possible to use genai to destroy it, imo the path forward is to completely reject it and band together with others that reject it. this is unethical and anti-social technology that has no place in the world
I think up until very recently, I still had some misplaced hope that we might get some genAI resistance from some existing established leaders in the FLOSS community.
However, I am finally internalizing that, it is either never coming; or if it does it will arrive far too late.
I can’t help my roll my eyes at how many folks give a guy a free pass to fuck around with AI just because he’s hot. 🙄

@3psboyd counterpoint: THAT is the nuanced take on LLMs/data centers.
@trashheap leaders seem to have been compromised, perhaps because they were easy to identify and isolate
the resistance will have to start grassroots, and we'll have to become our own leaders
@wizbean @trashheap Interestingly, AI one-shots people in position of leadership because of the infinite marketing promise. It can also affect people making stuff but it's less likely or they only resist it in their particular are of expertise while using it in other domains.
Sad stuff overall.
People are not out here for nuanced takes about AI.
Done, just wondered if it needed to go further than my own instance, since it's going on elsewhere too.
@Rhaedas as long as the report goes to the host service of the account you're good, thank you for reporting!
#Mobilizon is now maintained and developed by the Kaihuri team. #Framasoft passed the project to this new team after completing its mission, and still runs the mobilizon.fr instance.
Like Framasoft, #Kaihuri is a French non-profit and a member of the CHATONS collective. The goal stays the same: a free tool to organize events and groups without big platforms.
You can follow the official account @mobilizon for announcements.
Canvassing with a data center survey today. The overall response I'm getting at the doors today is that people hate this shit. All of it. And they don't use it.
