FediDevs
These are the people building the Fediverse!
I'm trying to move my website from GitLab to @Codeberg and ngl a bit overwhelmed with trying to figure out how the CI works for git-pages.
Can I use the CI or do I need to register before hand (I'm getting mixed signals) Is there a CI validation file somewhere so that I don't try to debug CI by just smashing it? Is there a cache for my PHP dependencies? How do I know all the extensions I need are in the 8.5-cli image? Yes I have a custom whacky static site generator, but it is my playground.
@Girgias We offer two CI setups. Forgejo actions (which is open to all users out of the box) and Woodpecker (which requires requesting access). https://docs.codeberg.org/ci/
If you plan on using Forgejo Actions, there is a ready-to-use action to help you get started: https://codeberg.org/git-pages/action
I'm doing a #Fediverse onboarding today at the #Montreal #AnarchistTechConvergence #atc2026.

It walks through all the steps of getting on the Fediverse. I'm excited for the chance!
@Kalytis il faut être branché. Après je crois qu’il n’y a rien qui dit qu’il faut que ça recharge vraiment, mais c’est pour ça que la majorité des opérateurs facturent au delà d’un certain temps, ou si tu es à 100%
Thanks @johannab for agreeing to stand for a director position at #CoSocialCa
We need more members on the board with her -> consider self-nominating to serve.
A quarterly meeting commitment + support the strategic direction of the co-op. More on the members forum https://members.cosocial.ca/t/call-for-nominations-for-director/923/
@Gargron Lovely history! How rewarding and powerful to see how your tiny project has grown up!
The blue may have come from: https://www.colourlovers.com/
@scott Yes!
@gabboman i mean the difference is that a fedi instance hosts at most upwards of 1/6th of the fediverse but that is true in my exp too
@nu@ko.she-a.eu
Yeah they have a big mastodon social problem. Thats what wafrn tries to fix

its like if atproto was somehow decentralised right?
https://blacksky.community also works fine
@Downes We emphasize ActivityPub, but you can get the RSS feed from any page on the site.
@nu@ko.she-a.eu
Oh no, much better than that
@nu@ko.she-a.eu
Seems to be localised stuff, and I will also add: Usualy, fedi downtimes are less but longer.
@gabboman true but like it feels like they are competing with github on uptime at this point
@nu@ko.she-a.eu
Oh no, much better than that
@gabboman wafrn i gotta admire the double penetration
@nu@ko.she-a.eu
It seems to be a partial outage
Serving 40 million users is not easy
the online translators experience in 2026

yeah it's decentralized
in the same way my tits are small
(it isn't and they aren't)

@bkuhn @copiesofcopies I think the situation is more acceptable when using fully "local models", it doesn't erase all the concerns, but it at least improves user agency and autonomy. But overall, "local models" are mostly for "localwashing"; people like to bring them up as an alternative that nobody uses. Likewise, using LLMs to *find problems*, I don't have a problem with; search-space usage is one thing, but generative is another, in terms of social impact.
I also think that there are ways to improve the reliability of these systems, make them cheaper, and understandability of what they are doing, with neurosymbolic approaches, but that work hasn't advanced yet, and the current situation is pretty dismal. I really don't believe that we can vibe our way out of this mess, and I'm afraid we're going to see important projects, including Linux, head down the vibe bobsled https://dustycloud.org/blog/faulty-towers-vibe-sickness-and-the-vibe-bobsled/
