Whilst we wish we could say we represented 'hype', this isn't the case.

Our Channels boost this post so that the thousands of people who use the Channels daily are aware of changes. This is our normal service behaviour as the creators of the Channels. - Saskia

if you think your job sucks, imagine the one of the guy who has to get up there every day to change the date

Wearing an automatic blood pressure monitor for the day is actually a really good pomodoro timer.

I'm very aware of every half hour that passes, much more than normal.

Progress is being made on @mosscap, the friendly #RailsFork!

We have just merged successful independently running CI configurations for the forked `mosscap-support`, `mosscap-http` (ex actionpack), `mosscap-model` and `mosscap-view` gems. So, now everything is green, we can really start working on those at pace. 🎉

`mosscap-record` needs eyes fresher than mine on a bad MySQL config, but that just leaves us with `mosscap-core` (ex railties), which is the trickiest one.

I keep thinking about my post-tech options; even as someone who doesn't have to *use* any of this shit, the entire culture is demotivating and makes me feel unwanted.

BUT, I know we're not alone, we're a community, and that's what they really want us to forget. We'll keep each other going. ✊️

I noticed Owncast was removed from the Fediverse Wikipedia page. Not surprised, I suppose.

@alice_pea_3526 Probably. But the point isn't about AI. It's how the spirit of the project is changing. From the "we're open" to "if you're not good enough (and good can mean a lot of things), you're out".

Sure, they need to filter out. The project is now too big to accept any kind of contribution. But sounds like... some sort of... well, I can't find the right word, but I don't totally like it.

@slyborg

Hey, so glad you asked!

We're still building platforms for communities on the Open Social Web and continuing our mission to create spaces where people can learn from one another.

I'd recommend checking out our website or looking at our posts here if you want a better idea of what we do. - Saskia

Also "I've got the data and I'm right" is such an amazing line.

RE: https://cosocial.ca/@mhoye/117445563634172537

I'm frankly amazed that @mhoye is our community coordinator at @mosscap. Means we have a chance at getting this right, and we're thinking this way from day one.

@TheVoidTLMB

100%

And you can call this whatever oversensitive, feel-good "woke" nonsense you want, but I've got the data and I'm right: a code of conduct, community standards and moderation enforcing them, the psychological safety of your community, these are near term competitive advantages and long term survival tools. Treating the process of getting involved and the experience of staying involved in your community like they're _a product_, worthy of usability testing and ergonomic refinement, is a power tool.
