FediDevs
These are the people building the Fediverse!
@dansup Can you have a look at this serious issue please? https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/issues/7452 Who knows how many accounts are affected :(
@geobomatic That looks like vernissage.photos is blocking pixelfed.social, ask them!
Pixelfed isn't just a project.
It's an ecosystem.
Six side projects. One mission: a better social web.

Here's something news organizations could do to stop enabling bad faith actors like Trump: stop using labels like "critics" for people who are rightly calling out political stunts.
It's not a neutral term. It inserts an air of neutrality where none should be. The refusal of news organizations to be willing to state objective reality is one of the reasons that a Trump is possible.
Yes, this will come with loads of criticism. The right learned years ago that they could "work the ref" and dogpile news organizations into submission by complaining about bias for ... accurately reporting facts.
Taking those complaints as valid has just led to an endless cycle of bad faith complaints and moving the goalposts farther and farther from truthful reporting.
(Yeah, I know I'm just shouting into the wind...)
@dansup, while I'm not yet an active user, I've been following your posts. You should be proud of! I'm awed by your work and contributions. :)
@ppulfer Thank you!
Pixelfed is funded by people like you.
We could have taken VC funding, but we both know that would ruin everything we stand for!
So we kindly ask: can you help sustain our mission to keep Pixelfed independent?
No ads. No tracking. No investors. Just us and you.
Can't donate? A boost helps too 💜

@dansup excited to try it out 🙌
@rileytestut I look forward to bringing the new Pixelfed iOS app to AltStore ❤️
@dansup excited to try it out 🙌
@dansup I don't understand why this is a priority , we have loops for videos while photo centric features like collections are not fully implemented on mobile
@hiphopheaven Collections will be improved, but they don't appear in feeds, so obviously video was more of a priority.
@dansup booooo Apple, what are they rejecting it for??

Social media has changed a lot since we started Pixelfed.
So have we.
Close Friends, Group Chats and Stories are how people share today, and we're bringing them to the fediverse.
One more thing.
We're building them alongside new privacy and safety tools, like comment controls and interaction policies. Because a community only thrives when it's safe.
We put it in writing. Our Digital Charter of Rights: https://respectfulplatforms.org
We can do better. And we are.
I know people accuse me of prioritizing Apple and iOS, but in a ironic twist of fate, the new Pixelfed app is available exclusively on F-Droid, the Play Store and GitHub (APK).
I wanted them to release on both platforms, and AltStore + F-Droid at the same time, but Apple App Review has rejected the app twice already.
@dansup booooo Apple, what are they rejecting it for??

@dthompson gives a good comment on the two different views of "p2p":
> There's a distinction to be made between p2p as a network topology and p2p as a redistribution of power and agency. It's true that relays are an unsatisfying fallback to deal with the networks we have, but they still allow for meaningful p2p in sociopolitical terms. Relays that support the spirit of p2p need to be federated, stateless, and end-to-end encrypted.
Tor Onion Services for instance are also relay'ed (as is pretty much all internet traffic) but pretty much nobody blinks at them being called P2P because they provide the assurances around agency and abstraction enabling P2P interactions.
