Thank you, Margaret Hamilton, for everything you did for our field, including coining the very term for it.

It's not every day that someone you have a Lego Mini-figure of passes away.

Rest in Peace, Margaret Hamilton

@meoralis Great question, yeah that is way to low, we're increasing it to 100 right now!

@stux Good morning!! Is that an egg I see?? Is that his baby??

It was such a great experience to join the open source conference in luxembourg!
Huge thanks to the amazing @_elena@mastodon.social and @Gina@fosstodon.org for organising and curating the Decentralised Technologies for Digital Sovereignty track, It brought together lots of the people and conversations we need right now.
And thanks to @samvie@chaos.social to keep pushing the fediverse forwards ✊️

@jay_tee Yeah, that is what is magical about the fediverse. You can be on Pixelfed and find amazing content from Mastodon, and even the Mastodon founder @Gargron follows some Pixelfed accounts!

Putting people first pays off.

We are exploring ways to make the platform more sustainable with ethical monetization (like in-app purchases) and to help fund admins who operate servers, as well as content creators themselves.

We can do this without selling your data, while maintaining the reverse chronological home feed.

I'm preparing some ideas that I'd like community feedback on, we don't have a board or shareholders to direct us, instead we have you!

Stay tuned. #pixelfed

👏 👏 👏

I am so much happier using #Pixelfed than Instagram. Like, I actually get to see beautiful photos on Pixelfed, whereas Instagram has turned into mind numbing short form video content.

Also, Pixelfed doesn’t constantly keep moving the a marketplace button to where a notifications button used to be.

@jay_tee I don't want Instagram to die, but fade away while helping people find a better alternative to it, like it was back in the early 2010's.

Before influencers and video, when it was true to sharing beautiful photos.

Just wanna say how proud I am to be a part of this, and how I couldn't do this without the encouragement and support from you, the fediverse.

I used to dream of building my own social network platform while I was fixing cars, a decade ago, and now I'm responsible for one of the most popular alternatives to Instagram!

Never stop chasing your dreams, they can come true ❤️

@schb This is a bug, it will be fixed in the next release!
