@astro@c3d2.social @news@wedistribute.org This is actually a weird bug we've had with WordPress and ActivityPub. It's the byproduct of content negotiation, basically the issue of the browser trying to determine which version to deliver.

We would love to find a fix for it, as the issue kicks in completely at random some time after publishing an article.

I just see great clips from these shows all the time on Facebook Videos and Instagram, and I feel like they would be a welcome addition to our own space, if we could just come up with a strategy to make it happen.

@coin@fedi.space my main concern is the fan-out that could happen when federating a lot of details across a lot of different places. Federation deliveries go up exponentially when you do stuff like that, and there's still no "story" of how ActivityPub implementations should handle this situation.

Sure, there's some speculative work such as LOLA for ActivityPub data portability, and some platforms like Hubzilla have had some version of this floating around forever. It's that last mile of making it work for everybody that remains hard.

@coin@fedi.space Debating it. I know it's possible, you can apparently import the entire Outbox JSON from a previous account hosted elsewhere.

I think it's a worthy experiment, but will preface with the statement that I'm not sure if it will break something.

@fabio@manganiello.music Hey, that's good to know! I mainly ask because both Mirlo and Bandwagon go a few steps further with allowing people to buy and sell music. It's kind of a fledgling effort at the moment, but could be very interesting for musicians in the space.

I feel like the BBC would be in a very unique position to put up a Loops instance and post clips from all of their various shows. If there's anything that's perfect for vertical short-form videos, it's British comedy.

They already do this with Facebook, Instagram, and probably Tiktok. I would be beside myself if I could watch bits of Monty Python, Eight Out of Ten Cats Do Countdown, Peep Show, and Graham Norton all on Loops.

@fabio@manganiello.music I just wanted to say that this looks really, really cool! Have you looked into compatibility with Funkwhale, Bandwagon, or Mirlo yet?

It would be fantastic to have these different platforms maintain some level of compatibility with each other.

After some troubleshooting and investigating, we've migrated over to the latest alpha release for #Bonfire. It seems that we've figured out the root cause with the queue problem, which was causing every instance to receive notice of every follower our accounts had during the migration process, leading to lots of fan-out. Anyway, we should be all caught up now, lesson learned, bug squashed!

@David@setouchi.social It's a tough one to explain! I almost view it as being a development framework, like a tool for building communities. It's super flexible, and you can hypothetically use it to build anything.

Today, we're looking into database and queue optimization for better performance. It looks like we have an issue with federation being really slow on both the sending and receiving ends, so I'll be working to debug this in the interest of making sure our service remains speedy.

Things I absolutely do not recommend: going to school to take a math test when you're exhausted. I kept nodding off slightly when trying to do the equations, and it was not a good time.

I'd start writing, only for my brain to lose track of what I was doing, thinking I was drawing a picture or writing a story. Bad times.
