free software is important, but it is only the beginning. it is less than the bare minimum

all software must, at the very minimum, be free software, plus:

• code of conduct that bans transphobia, homophobia, racism, ableism, gen-ai, ... (not an exhaustive list, as there are many problematic things i'm not even thinking of right now)
• contribution policy banning gen-ai
• once it grows: have a resilient community around it that won't succumb to the nazi bar effect
• be immune to corporate takeover
• be community-focused; by the community, for the community
