I'm reconsidering my plan to get a new iPad Mini 8. I've documented my largely negative views on iPadOS here over the last few years. I was thinking of getting the mini mainly to read my large collection of Apple Books purchases. (1/4)

@ianRobinson I'm still adapting my workflow to the mini, but:
I abandoned Apple Books last couple years, everything is now DRM-free one way or another; some I could scrape out with calibre. I manage them in DropBox & Readdle Documents.
I stripped all the crap apps & notifications out of the mini. It does just a couple things.
YMMV but I find lag & B&W on eink intolerable. 60Hz is OK, it is mostly books with a little typing or painting.
The mini is a really sweet size/weight for a book.
