Here in Washington state, Democrats are on track to pick up 9 seats in the state House (although a couple are very close and haven't been called yet) and one in the state Senate.
Unfortunately, the odious anti-trans and misogynistic initiative I-638, requiring genital inspections of all girls playing high school sports, passed comfortably. It's quite possibly unconstitutional, and it will get challenged before going into effect, but this is still really disastrous.
Brian Heywood’s horrible “prove you have a vagina” measure to exclude trans girls from girls’ sports is passing. Now what?
More positively, though, the other anti-trans initiative doesn't seem like it will pass, and the initiative to repeal the billionaire's tax was roundly defeated. AndI'm very excited that in LD-48 Jessica Forsythe is ahead of incumbent Amy Walen. Walen's a business-friendly "pragmatic" (cough) centrist Dem, who's been a big roadblock on a lot of issues including privacy, and Forsythe is a lot more progressive.
All in all ... well at least for me, the sting of I-638 outweighs all the good news. That said, there was a lot of good news.
