Yep.
Don't get me wrong, I'm very glad about the election results. We'll see how much we can push the Dems can limit the damage in Congress, and how much they do with their trifectas in key states ... but it's certainly a much better situation than the alternative the fascists were laying the groundwork for ,where a close election might well have lead to a coup attempt. So kudos to everybody who worked so hard on this, appeciation to Black voters in the south for turning out in droves, props to the millions of older white women who got involved with No Kings, etc etc etc.
That said, systemic change is just as urgent as it was a week ago. So building capacity at the grassroots level remains critical. There's lots of encouraging stuff happening on that front on some of the tech justice-related issues I mostly focus on -- and even from an electoral perspective, grassroots opposition to data centers was a huge factor in the "blue tsunami". But as @CrimethInc says
"Yet as they regain their hold on power, Democrats will be inclined to work more and more closely with capitalists and the tech industry, rhetoric about “oligarchy” notwithstanding."
And tech justice is far from the only front in this struggle! So if you're one of the people who helped win the election, please stay involved ... and if you weren't that deeply engaged, well, now's a great time to change that!
@jdp23 @CrimethInc What we are experiencing here is beyond words to describe or express the extent of the suffering we are enduring.
Despite everything we are facing, we are still doing everything in our power to save our children and families from the bitter cold and the floods surrounding us.
That is why we need you today more than ever before.
