On October 14, #China announced live-fire drills in 5 sea regions and sent its first aircraft carrier, Liaoning, to the western #Pacific. It is believed the action is aimed at the U.S.–#Japan alliance and at strengthening China’s ability to operate in the Western #Pacific.
