Students who learned how to use a protractor and ruler during lockdown are now taking high school level geometry and I don't think that went so well. Their algebra is fine. But I needed to bring all of the tools out and teach them how to use them again.
I could see how a remote lesson on a protractor measuring angles could go very wrong. Possibly some of them didn't have the tools at hand and just used online versions that snap into place for you... which just doesn't cut it.
This was exciting for me since you don't realize just how complex the concept of "measuring an angle" really is until you need to really break it down.
I think I've caught most of them up now but hooo boooy if I never see someone write that an angle is 3cm or that a segment is 35 degrees ever again I will be very happy about that.
