A couple years ago I started growing palo verde seeds that I had gotten in the desert almost ten years beforehand. I was growing them in pots, but I moved the pots over to the dirt so they wouldn't be in my way on the driveway.
All three of the plants took the opportunity to sink tap roots through the hole in the bottom of the pot into the earth below. I moved one, breaking the tap root and almost killing the plant. The other two were stuck.
Now, a year later, the biggest of them is a tree of 15 feet. It's pretty impressive.
The local birds love it, too. All the various little brown birds gather one it and chirp at each other. I guess it its many branches and lack of leaves make a good place to roost and chat if you're a small bird.
@MLE_online I think those are pretty aggressive, lol... nice trees, but don't plant them where you don't want them to be forever, ha! I had considered putting one here.
